Passing on the sad news that Heidi's dad passed away yesterday afternoon after a rather brief illness.
Last month, her dad went in the hospital for pneumonia and when they did a blood test, they found his white counts were off. They did a bone marrow test and diagnosed leukemia.
He went into the hospital early March to start aggressive chemo. About a week after the first round of chemo his heart rate went up. They stabilized that and was he doing good, until this past Wednesday, when his blood pressure and heart rate dropped, turned out to be an intestinal infection brought on by the chemo. The doctors called yesterday and he passed around noon.
If losing her dad is not enough sadness, Heidi's mom had a mammogram, also last month, and they found a 1 centimeter lump. Her mom had it removed, it was cancerous and was to start radiation this week. Now that has been put on hold for a time, with losing her hubby.
Heidi does so much here for so many, keeping up with all the exchange stuff that goes on here on the DIS, always a kind word, an hello to so many. Please keep Heidi and her mom in your good thoughts, and prayers if you do, both in the loss of her dad, her mom's husband, and for her mom's good health also.
God speed for your dad, Heidi, blessings, good wishes for both you and your mom.
So much sad news of late here with our DIS family.
