Did you know that a lot of “hypnotherapists” practice with not a single proper qualification? They just register with free online “qualifications” and advertise them as such? No certificate, award or diploma. And they can get away with it as there is no qualifying body saying you must hold "this" level of award in the practice. You can declare yourself a hypnotherapist and practice straight away. Harms the credibility of those who have done the leg work.

I sat an exam, very early on in my learning before I got serious, took 6 hours and ended with a small exam. When you were eMailed (yes, eMailed) your certificate, it told you, now you can set up shop as a hypnotherapist. So not true. But you could. IMO, there should be regulation for this kind of thing over here.

Does your state require licensing?

If so, be sure in any of your marketing pieces, including social media and online presence that you are licensed in the State of _______________, as well as were your education was from.

Perhaps even include a very short narrative on what it took you to achieve your certification.

Congrats!!!

Here in the UK, there is no overseeing body for most therapeutic occupations. I dunno what it's like in the States.

Thanks for the congrats :)

You don’t even need to sit a test or do a course to become an "NLP Therapist" - I know of one “guild” who will take your money and declare you a practitioner, just like that! And NLP is a serious therapy.

I did not know that. And checking, there is no requirement to be certified or licensed in California. Not that I would ever go to a hypnotherapist.

(((HUGS))) I know first hand how scary hypnotherapy is to a lot of people. There's no shame in that :)
