SAD DAY: Please send prayers & PD......

Hello DIS Family,
I don't normally write these posts but it has been a sad day. A friend of ours, John, who had been battling cancer committed suicide yesterday. My best friend and his sister-in-law found him
. He kept a journal all night Sat. and early Sun. morning, as he was hoping a O.D. on OxyContin would put him, peacefully, out of his misery. When it didn't work, he used a gun.

John was a very funny, EXTREMELY talented guy!! He was an accomplished classical guitarist and pianist and taught music at a local Community College.

I know that he is no longer suffering. I am asking for prayers for those closest to him who need peace of mind, knowing that they were like family to him and they did everything humanly possible to make the last few months as fun as they could. And that he knew he had a loving circle of friends who cared very deeply for him.

I am so sorry.

My own brother committed suicide 13 years ago. The family has to know that it was nothing that they did - but rather that his pain and suffering was too much for him to endure. I hope they remember all the wonderful years they had with him and that the good times will far outweigh the bad and sad.

My prayers go out to you and your friends.
I know what it is like to see someone suffer through a long and painful illness. I cannot imagine bearing the pain of his suicide on top of what they have already been through.
Please let them know that his actions do not reflect what they did or did not do during his lifetime. His actions were simply a result of living with unbearable pain.

Oh such a tough decision/choice to decide that you want to be in control of your own "leaving"............

he sounds like a man I would have enjoyed knowing!

My prayers go out to the people who's lives he touched...I'm sure he'll be missed terribly by you all.

I'm so sorry, sweetie. What a sad story. Bless his heart. I'm sorry you are feeling sad about this but it does sound as though your friend truly wanted to die.

{{{HUGS}}} my friend. Prayers for those people closest to John, they will have a lot of sadness in their lives now. What a good friend you are to come here to us and ask for support for your real life friends. It was a very caring thing to do.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, PD and loving thoughts!! I had a pretty busy day, but found myself thinking a lot about how much I have to be grateful for. The DIS "cyber family" is definitely on the list!!! I have been lucky enough to meet some of you in "real life" and it makes the connection that much stronger. But, when it comes down to it, even online, this is real life and I am blessed to be a part of it!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} Thanks again!!
