sad day for me but very productive

My dad passed away Oct, 21, 2005, so this is my first fathers day without him. I knoq he is in a nice quiet place where there is no harm, war or ill feelings towds another. Today as I was crying I thought about the fact all the good care and love I gave to him over the years that he knows as he looks down upon me I'm sad but in the same breath happy for all the years he gave me with lessons about life.

Special hugs,Gail. I wasn't as close to my dad as you were, but I still miss him. You know what did me in? That crazy old Hudson Hornet in "Cars". My dad was an amatuer race car driver and I spent many a day at the track. Ahhh,memories. It's okay to cry.

the First year is so hard... my Dad passed a few days before yours ( October 19th) and I have felt his presence very strongly today. But as you said he is in a better place without pain and he is watching over and smiling at you.

those first days. Fathers Day, Mothers Day, they are painful....I too have been through them.

My DD19 babysits for a family, last year, about 8 months ago, the Daddy died at age 42 of a heart attack. Today was their first Fathers day too. The little girl is 5 and the little boy 3. She babysat for them yesterday and when she went to put on a DVD for them, the liitle guy said "Not the Lion King please because the Daddy dies"

My heart aches for all those who mark today as the first for them...

I am with you too. I lost my father 10 Sept 05 to cancer. It has been hard with all of the holidays and birhdays. I am sure that it won't be as hard as the day he passed. Hugs to you all.

Hugs to you Gail and all the rest of you who are dealing with the first father's day without your dads. It is hard. My dad died almost 11 years ago and I still miss him. Somedays still with a physical ache. Today was the easiest so far which surprised me because mom passed away in Feb and I would always call her to talk about dad on Fathers day. Yesterday would have been their 58th anniversary, but I know they are continuing to love each other up there in Heaven.

We lost my Dad July 1996 due to heart disease (DS was 2)
We lost my FIL April 1996 due to cancer (DS was 4)
