Sad but very unusual picture.... (I heard a loud bang and went to investigate)

And this is what I found on my family room window. I went outside and there was a stunned but still alive dove. He/she flew away when I tried to pick it up to see how badly he/she was hurt. He/she must be ok because it's gone from my backyard now.

But it missed the bullseye crosshairs by only a few inches.

Ouch, that must have hurt! Maybe a decal or something in the window may prevent this from happening in the future. Hey, on the bright side, must mean you have *very* clean windows!!!!!!!!!

Well, not exactly *that* clean. Actually, the shade on that window was pulled half way down at the time of impact.

It's so weird that you can see the entire outline of the body from wing tip to wing tip including the eye!

And I didn't realize that doves where that "dusty" or whatever that is that left the mark.

The same thing happened on our upstairs bedroom window last year, we had a very clear imprint. It made us jump with the crash!

Our windows were dirty though and it still showed up!

Happens quite frequently to us. I have a 5-panel bow window and the thermo glass must be strong because at least once a week a bird flies into it. Drives my cats nuts. I usually have to clean up the remains, but sometimes I think they are just stunned because I can't find any evidence on the ground. (and no way could anyone ever call my windows clean! I have cat nose prints all over them. I can tell by the height, which cat did which print, too!)

Ouch. Something similar happened at my house once. I left the driver side window down, passenger one up. Who knows why?! Anyway, the next morning I opened the passenger side door and found a dead bird on the seat! Gross!

I had this happen to me at work once. That imprint was there for months! It's probably from the natural oils in bird feathers.

Glad the dove was okay. Occasionally we get birds who fly into our windows...but none ever left a mark like that!

Glad the bird is okay! It's usually our cats that jump into the window... for some reason, they keep forgetting that there's glass there!! LOL if they could only get to that bird!
