Sacrificing SoG for Early Entry?

I currently have a room booked at SoG November 1-7, and with the news that the hotel will not be included in the new early entry program, I'm seriously considering moving my stay to another hotel that gets this perk. The rate at SoG is about $200/night, and I don't really want to pay much more than that for a new resort.

Looking for:
Any resort recommendations that will be included in early entry
Advice: will early entry be worth it? am I placing too much stock into 30 minutes a day?

I would wait and see if SOG gets added within the next month. I bet it’s just a matter of finalizing agreements. I don’t think it’s likely SOG and Swan/Dolphin are staying off the list.

How is the transportation at SOG vs say POP and the price per room? Would you need to get up 45 mins earlier just to get to park ?

I don't know the answers, just throwing something else to think about besides just cost.

Only thing showing available for regular Disney rooms in that price range is all star music for your dates. I can only ever seem to figure out how to check package prices on the good neighbor hotels and not actual room rates so I’m not too sure if there are some options there. Given the choice of SOG or all star music I would be staying at SOG and foregoing the extra 30 minutes which I really don’t expect to be a huge deal to be honest. I agree with Deb and waiting to see if SOG is added.

true, it’s probably worth keeping the reservation until right up against the cancellation date just in case.

Could book a room at all star movies for now too if the extra 1/2 hour is really something you want. Last I knew the deposit was only 1 day so would cost you a refundable $170ish to hold a room there while you decide. Everything else at that time would be a significant price increase but keep checking, never know if pop will show up!

I heard Swan/Dolphin has been added not officially confirmed but I'd be surprised if they and SOG weren't added officially soon

SOG dedicated busses have been quite efficient and Poly is just a quick walk. MK is now within walking distance.

Some of the reputable bloggers are saying SoG will be added soon, they just need to finalize the contract with disney. I would keep your reservation.

I switched to preferred pool view at pop century. I know folks are saying to wait it out at SOG will be added..

probably.. but I am so tired of the up and downs and unknowns I just want certainty in my trip planning.

and yes a half hour is worth it to me. A half hour could be a couple of headliner rides. And. The half hour is when it would start I am sure it means getting to the parks and inside even earlier…

Staying at Caribbean Beach next trip with military rate (around $220/night for each of two pirate rooms). SOG would have been more. Really depends on type of room you need and your category status at SOG. Have also done 2 bedroom units (had 11 people in 2 units) at Saratoga with military rate several times. This was around $450/night for each unit but with that large a group the space and kitchens were valuable. Call - even logging on after doing a military trip doesn't necessarily show you the rates.

We've never used Early entry, and haven't had any issues. We're eligible to stay at SOG, but haven't because we need transportation from Orlando International. Once Magic Express is cancelled SOG becomes a viable option. Personally I wouldn't choose hotel based on Early Entry.
