SAB Slide Question

Hoping someone can answer a question about the big slide at SAB.

It looks like most of the slide is a tunnel slide. Would a 10 year old be able to sit up and go down the slide or would he have to lay on his back.

My son doesn't mind the tunnel part but would prefer to sit up and do it.

TIA,

Missy

From what I have read on other posts here on the Boards, I think he could sit. Someone posted that anyone but the tallest adult could probably sit up, and that the "tunnel" part of the slide is very short anyhow. He might lean or hunch over until he is clear of the tunnel.

Just from personal experience, I don't believe you can sit up and go down. It is a winding slide that he would probably get thrown backward. It starts out in a tunnel so he can't sit for that either. The slide is great and you certainly get a small workout going back and forth from the pool to the slide.

The lifeguards will tell you to," lie down", before they will let you go. Once your out of the tunnel you can then sit up.

What kind of identity do you have to have to use the pools at SAB if you are staying at the BC or YC? Do they give guests a wrist band or do guests simply show our room key(card)?

A wrist band, color changes daily, is used. A CM will check your room keys to see if you are staying at YC, BC, or BCV and issue one wrist band per key at busy times and depending on the CM. Other times during the day the CMs needed to see a key from one in the party and would issue a wrist band for everyone in the group. They also hand out pool towels at this time.

The tunnel is straight. You must lie down and then you can sit up. My five yo LOVED this slide. Your son will be fine.

I have the DIS acronym page bookmarked, but if certain acronyms aren't on there it gets frustrating trying to figure them out.:confused3

The SAB slide is 230 ft. long with 110 ft tunnel. The tunnel is straight and you are able to see the opening of the tunnel at the top of the slide. As a former lifeguard over there I was instructed to tell guests that they needed to lay on their backs. There are also signs that state the same thing. Laying down on your back actually helps you go faster and have a better experience. There would be a lot of little booger eaters that decided that sitting up was a fun thing to do and it would slow them down. What that also means is that the lifeguard at the top would have to wait longer before telling the next guest when they could go.

If you have any other specific questions about SAB, YC, or BC, then send me a PM and I'll be more than happy to answer anything you throw at me. I can't wait until this summer when i'm back down there working mainly at the DTD Marina but will also pick up a few shifts over at SAB when I can.
