If anyone has this camera i would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me how you like it. Also, which would you prefer...Canon s5 of Sony h9. Thanks!
Also, DPReview only gives the Sony an above average. Anyone familiar with them knows that this level is not a good review. Anything lower than recommended is a death sentence from them.
ImaginEars,
I recently bought an S3 IS. Best Buys had just recieved a few S5 IS's and I looked at them, but the differences were so minor, it just did not justify an additional $150.00. I am by no means a camera expert so the "minor differences" may mean more to someone who is, but even the camera guy at Best Buys did'nt think it was worth it (camery guy may not equal camera expert either). I got a little tired of the "which is better, _____ or _____ game. I got the S3 (mostly because of the Huge family on the DIS) to take to Disney a couple of weeks ago. It has a great zoom, some cool features, a very low grade learning curve, and I reeled off over 400 shots (not all of them were keepers, but a lot were). The ONE thing that I heard about that I had forgotten was that this little booger goes through batteries like poo through a goose! It also does not warn you of "low battery" until it is almost dead. I took some spare batteries but it was'nt enough and it broke my heart to get batteries at the parks! Invest in a battery charger and venture off AUTO!
The S5 will likely have slightly higher noise levels than the S3 (and this was evident in the only review I've looked at so far), due to more megapixels in a same-sized sensor, so if you value low-light ability, you may be better off with an S3.
You will also be paying a premium for the S5 because it's so new.
