U think it will be a hassile to go back in forth from the hotel ? I mean 15 Nights at Portofino Bay is the same price as 7 Nights at RPC Grand Floridian !!:scared1::scared1: Disney has to lower there prices really badley

Im not knocking disney i love there hotels and no im not staying 15 nights in orlando thast crazy

Im just keeping an open mind I will probbley stay in WDW

It probably won't take you much longer to get from PBH to your Disney park than it would to wait for the bus and take the bus to your Disney park from your Disney hotel.

I do this all the time. I usually split my trips between a Disney hotel and a Universal hotel. I don't go to the Universal parks as often as I go to the Disney parks, so I end up going to Disney from my Universal hotel. Not weird at all. You have to have a car to do this, and the drive is about 20 min, but it's really no hassle. I agree with the previous poster that it would probably take longer to take Disney transportation to the park from a Disney hotel than your own car from a Universal hotel. I love the Universal hotels, and you're right that they're a better deal financially than the Disney deluxe hotels. Have a great trip!

Not weird...okay, maybe it is weird cause I'm weird and it's what I'm doing. ;) We're staying at RPR for 7 nights and will be visiting the Disney parks during that stay. We'll of course also be visiting IOA & USO (and HHN! :thumbsup2). We always stay at Universal resorts and the drive from there to the Disney area has never been a hassle whatsoever.

Not weird at all. We do it all the time. Well, at least we plan to do it all the time. Once we get the Portofino and Universal, it seems we are always having too much fun to make it to Disney.

But when we do it, we go early in the morning for rope drop, then come back to Universal in the afternoon when it starts getting busier and we have FOTL.

You are going to be so spoiled at Portofino...the rooms are so much nicer than GF (and yes I mean the RPC, Maine building...actually that was our worst ever stay on disney property)

My DH and I do two to three trips a year to Orlando. We always stay at the Portofino. The last time we went to Universal Studios and/or Islands of Adventure was about five years ago. We always go to Disney, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. You will love the Portofino. The rooms are very nice and the bathrooms are too die for - they are really large in size. We always stay in a bayfront room on the first floor on the East wing. These rooms have french doors and chairs outside. We love to sit out there and drink coffee and soak up the atmostphere. The Portofino Bay also has great restaurants -we love Mama Della's for dinner and for lunch and/or dinner Sal's Pizzeria is great - as is the ice cream parlor next door to Sal's. As for the drive from the Portofino to the parks, it only takes us about 20 to 30 minutes to get there. I hope you enjoy your stay at the Portofino as much as we do. Have fun.

We are taking our first trip to Orlando later this month and are staying at the Portofino Hotel with our two kids (13 and 9). My daughter wanted to visit Disney during the trip. We will not have a car. How do you get from the Portofino Hotel to the Disney parks? Is there a shuttle?

You need to arrange your own transportation. You can take a cab (around $35 without tip) or you can do Mears Transportation which is around $14/person round trip.

In 07 we stayed at the HRH and visited MK from there. Funny part was as we were leaving the park, it started POURING. (Sad for the MNSSHP guests just entering.) We were soaked thru the whole tram ride, running to car, etc. When we pulled up to HRH valet, we looked like drowned rats and HRH was completely dry, no rain at all. We looked so silly! :lmao:

Ahhh... happy memories.
