S.W fares went up again today!!!!!

Airfare went up again to $149 one way! We are looking for Sept 7th and last year we bought our tickets about a week before the new schedule came out and when the new schedule came out for the next block of dates, our fare went down. Don't know if that will happen this year because of gas prices though. I know the new block of dates open on 3/15 so I am in a quandry over whether or not to book now, since they keep going up or wait it out to see if the prices go down when the new schedule comes out. ugh!

The flight that I booked yesterday on Jet Blue from BOS to MCO for $152 is now $428!!!!!!!!! Glad I decided to pull the trigger.

Saved $1077 on Southwest yesterday for August trip !
Switched airports from PHL to Baltimore ! A 73 mile drive will be worth it with ticket prices going up !!
Bought 5 RT tickets for $221 each

Update this morning !!!
Less than 24 hours.
My $221 tickets this morning went up to $278

We got a great fare of $154/round trip on SWA for our May trip.
But we're now awaiting a fare for October. I did hear yesterday that SWA was not planning fare increases in response to the higher fuel prices --- not yet anyway.

Where I live in Texas, last Saturday gasoline was $3.19. Today, it is at $3.42. With fuel increasing everyday, I went ahead and booked our flights yesterday. We paid $288 with continental from Austin-Orlando. I was wanting to wait for Southwest and JetBlue to release the October Fares but was afraid of a major price increase.

Both JB and SW had spring air fare sales that ended Friday and Thursday. That may account for some of the fare jump you've seen.

We are flying September 9th and I am waiting to purchase airfare on SW. While I don't expect that I'll see $150 RT that I've paid before, right now the flights I want are $325 RT. I'm thinking that once there is a late summer/early fall fare sale, I'll see better prices.

Really.....it's the middle of hurricane season in Florida in September. They should be giving away September flights. Just kidding!

This is true, the prices fluctuate several times a week, you just have to monitor them.

I LOVE my SWA but you have to be willing to play the game. Fares go up, come down a little, come down a lot, go up, come down....let's face it, it kills time between vacations. We're lucky enough to travel a couple of times a year with some flexibility to our schedules. I honestly can't remember paying more than $119 one way....you just have to play the game.

Well i agree that the fares normally fluctuate up and down but that does not seem to be the case this year. Our fares in upstate ny started at $134 when the scheduled came out for sept and have only gone up. never down and i must check at least 10 times a day. even stayed up till midnight last tues because I heard that fares go down wed night between midnight and 1am.
