We are hoping to get S/P/D early next year. We are first time WDW visitors. As a money saving measure we were planning to buy one park/day tix with an upgrade to park hoppers on site if we feel we're too restricted. But if we've paid the child price for the original tickets how will the upgrade be handled if we did it in the park? Would we be charged the adult rate? Would it be better to just buy park hoppers to begin with so we don't lose the discount?

The hopper addition is the same price for children and adults so it wouldn't make a difference where you upgraded. It's roughly $59 per person.

I'd just wait personally. The cost is the same and since it's your first time you really don't have a great scope of how big everything really is once you're there.

Enjoy your trip!

Oh ok! Then I guess that was a silly question. :) Thanks for your help!!

Not to get you even more confused, but assuming you are allowed to do this with the s/p,d (I do not know), you could also consider the "water parks and more" add-on. With that supplement, for each day of your tix, u get 1 supplement to be used at either water park (and I think can also be used at disney quest and maybe also mini-golf?) I believe this is cheaper than the park hopper, but at least then u could do "something" extra each day - in fact, some people use this option as a way to stretch their vacation, because the total package can typically be used over 14 days - so if staying for ten days, maybe get a 6 day pass with water park supplement, and alternate days over the 10 days (ie, park/waterpark/park/disney quest/park/water park/etc)-good luck!

Thank you. We actually were considering adding that. However, since we're going in February I'm not sure if we'd actually want to go to the water parks. (Well my 10yo ds probably will but not sure how about the rest of us). I am guess we will want to spend some evenings at Disney Quest, tho and it seems like a good value there, even without the parks....hmm...too many options! Lol.
