Hi everyone. I am going to WDW with my DW, DS (9), DD (5) and DD (1) from Nov 28 to Dec 5. :cool1: While I know it is to early for Southwest and other discount flyers, I am starting the airline searches for tickets.:surfweb:

So far, I am watching Southwest, Airtran, JetBlue, Northwest, Spirit and Allegiant airlines directly. Between those airlines, I have covered departures from Buffalo, Rochester, Detroit, Syracuse, and Toledo. Have I missed any airlines or airports I should consider?

I'm trying delta airlines out of Toronto this year but will try out of Buffalo next year( buffalo departure is much cheaper ). There are quite a few hotels close to the buffalo airport for a quick cab ride.Best wishes in your search.

I hope you enjoy your trip!

I decided against Pearson International because of the cost of the taxes/fees. Over 200.00 dollars PER ticket is rather more than I can afford. I am sure I can drive there and back for cheaper than the tickets would cost.

(That's the backup plan, if I can't find cheap enough plane tickets.)

We always fly out of Buffalo. The last 2 trips we have paid under $600 usd for 4 of us:thumbsup2 . We find if you book Southwest the day they list the flight schedule is the cheapest next to a few weeks before departure. SW releases new flight schedules it seems on Thursday/Fridays. They are only booking now till Aug24. The next round will probably open up in 3-4 weeks and will only go to approx mid Novmber. We booked our Decmeber 06 flights in mid July. Jet Blue and Air Tran are also good choices and release longer dates. Their deals don't seem to be till closer to the travel date.
Good luck

We're flying JetBlue (out of Syracuse). Great deal. :)

Someone mentioned WestJet had good deals but I haven't checked them out.

Good luck in your search.

WestJet -- I don't think I have that one on my list. Thanks for the tip.

I think that perhaps I am too early for this, but ... then again, I don't want to get caught out, either!:confused3

Anyone else going at the end of Nov/beginning of Dec?

We have been flying out of the Syracuse airport for the last 15 years and have had many positive experiences. This year we have a direct flight on JetBlue and are looking forward to flying out this Friday! Try to avoid the Best Western Airport Inn the night before your flight if you can. It is VERY noisy and requires serious room renovations for the price they are now charging. Most of the other hotels in the area have shuttles to the airport and you will get a better sleep the night before you fly!:thumbsup2

If we decide to fly out of Syracuse we will drive direct from family in Kingston, ON on the day of travel. I figure that that will save us the cost of a hotel, and (if we can find a direct flight in the morning), cross the border at a less busy time.

JetBlue seems to be the only airline with a direct to Orlando flight, and they aren't booking far enough in advance yet. Right now, that flight is in the evening.

How bad are connections, anyway? I have a daughter who is 1 (will be one at time of travel) another daughter who is 5, and a son who is 9. Do you have to re-check in for the second flight, or do you move from gate to gate relatively easily? Believe it or not, I have never been on a flight with a connection.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

If you live in TO ,Buffalo is your best bet.
You may get slightly cheaper Westjet flights out of Hamilton and I've heard a few folk who get the odd good deal out of Kitchener Waterloo or London (via Detroit I think)

We fly JetBlue last January. Out of Buffalo and connected at JFK. Connecting there was a breeze because all the gates are in a circle when you get off the plane. We didn't know this so we took the longest lay over thinking we would have run to the other side of the airport. It is pretty well walk off one and go to the gate beside you and get back on.

Loved JetBlue.

We fly South West this year didn't like it as much. No tv or movie. And the sitting is first come first serve kind of thing. Your boarding tickets say A, B, or C
and that is how they load the plane. Even if you have A you could be at the back of the plane because the pre boarding people get to sit where they want and they tend to spread out leaving only center seats left so that your family can't sit together. You would be okay because you would pre board with the baby.

You just walk off one and wait at your connecting gate until it is called and use the same boarding card.

When my dad went on business to Atlanta they flew out of Buffalo.

I use www.kayak.com to track flight costs. It examines all of the major websites.

Also, don't automatically exclude Toronto airport from your search. I've found some great fares to Tampa (from YYZ) for mid March (NorthWest has fares for $300 cdn per person return - including all taxes and fees).

Also, there is some great fares ($196 USD per person) from Rochester.

We usually do Southwest out of Buffalo, this past year we got adult tickets for $165 US direct non stop return. They usually release about 108 days in advance and the rates on line were cheaper than what my travel agent could get us!!!

We flew out of Buffalo this past dec and saved some serious money! 4 of us for 630 Cdn! compare that to Air Canada for 2200!! I loved Southwest, Buffalo is a very easy airport to get around in and parking the car at Sunpark for 10 days cost us $60US. We printed boarding passes A but we were running really late, and boarded last on the plane. Our family was large 10 and they saved the last two rows of the plane for us! So we all sat together and alone! Even Air canada and westjet gave us a harder time with this than Southwest! So far my experience is very positive!
