How does the parade taping work?

The 2pm parade isn't the Xmas parade, so how does that work? Do they run the Xmas parade in the day for that one day?

What are the logistics and what's a good game plan if you are in MK that day, and can't switch? If you want to see the parade? If you want to avoid the crowd (not see parade)? Are ride lines shorter?

Last year, the only taping that occurred on Main Street was The Descendants segment for their special that aired throughout the holiday season.

Festival of Fantasy ran at 5:00 that day and also on the other taping days when the Castle Stage was used for the musical guest segments.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is that even IF they decide to tape the Christmas Parade at MK,
there will actually be NO "parade" performed for the taping.
They only tape a very few floats (or bands, or dancers, etc.) stopped and queued up near the Hub.
Then, that float is released onto Main St. for recording purposes.
After that, they stop taping and wait to queue up another float (etc.) which waits for a cue to appear.
No "parade" runs during the taping.

The rest of MK is virtually unaffected.

Last year, the taping of the musical numbers made the Hub impassable. We had a devil of a time trying to get to Columbia Harbour House for a late dinner before it closed at 9 PM, after arriving at MK from DHS, where we had watched the SW Galactic Spectacular.

We tried walking through the Hub, then crossing to TL via its Hub entrance to walk around. We came to a standstill, and to backtrack to Main Street and the TL Terrace in order to find a path to walk around to LS and CHH. Eventually, we made it to CHH just in time for dinner, despite the delay.

I don't doubt that a bit.
But, I consider the hub to be a part of (connected to) Main St.
I consider "the rest of MK" to be all other areas... not connected to Main St.
If a guest is back in the "rides" areas of MK, they can in large part be unaffected by
"parade events" tapings.
