S/O Pie Crusts from scratch. Finding holiday pie filling

Mincemeat is a traditional holiday pie filling. I understand it is something not everyone likes, but I was surprised at how much trouble I had finding a store with the filling.
Walmart will ship it to you. And my regular grocery store chain's website lists it, but they don't have it in the store. It was amusing seeing the employees checking for me, and genuinely being surprised that they aren't stocking it this year. They do have literally pallets of pumpkin pie filling on display.
I grew up with pumpkin and mincemeat pies for the holidays, always the frozen kind that you bake at home as my mom worked full time and did not have time to make them from scratch.
My wife usually makes a pumpkin and a dutch apple from scratch, but with just two of us this year, it will just be dutch apple. Her mother always insisted on brining a Marie Calendar Chocolate Silk pie. Or chocolate SALT pie as we used to call it.\
Are you having any trouble finding any of your holiday food items?

Amazon carries None Such mincemeat. (The old standard in mincemeat )
They can get it to you quickly, like probably overnight.

Maybe it is too early for Mincemeat? We only ever had it for Christmas tarts.


I was able to buy everything I needed/wanted for Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago.

Only other thing we have an issue finding for Thanksgiving is a fresh boneless turkey breast.

I start buying whatever I can in September because my local stores do not think ahead and stock enough of staples like turkey gravy, pumpkin, etc., so everything is sold out by November.

I have not had issues finding anything. I thought the fresh cranberries looked better this year than last year. That has been the only real change I noticed.

do you do the real stuff (with suet and meat in it) or the more common absent it? I love mincemeat pie and was lucky enough to have a neighbor who included it in her seasonal canning activities. getting a quart jar of that filling was the BEST gift at Christmas time.

I buy the jarred filling. No suet or meat in it.

Kroger (and the various chains tied to them) used to carry the jarred stuff. I didn't see it in the store the other day, but I see it on their app and it says it's there. The brand is Tiptree. I think you're west coast, so maybe it's at Ralphs? It's an 11oz jar for $6.99, but I know our prices tend to be lower. I love mincemeat. Granted, it's not the authentic variety (with actual meat) like my grandmother's, but it's still pretty good in my opinion. I'm debating about getting some but I'm usually the only one that eats it and my method of freezing things afterwards so I don't gorge myself on leftovers might mean mincemeat pie or tartlets in my freezer for a year. I guess I'd be ready for next year As others have noted, there's always Amazon or possibly even InstaCart.

I saw jars of the None Such brand of mincemeat at Winco around the beginning of November. In one of their center displays with all the holiday baking stuff. Not sure if it's still there, but I imagine so. Not sure if this is the brand you normally get, but it does have beef listed in the ingredients (very little of it).

Ralphs is a Southern California chain and I am in Northern California. They run Food4 less too, but none anywhere close to me. I think what was most interesting about the whole situation to me was when I asked, the staff thought they carried it, took me to where they thought it would be, then got on the computer and were shocked to see they weren't carrying it.
