Hey everyone, I thought I would start a new photograph assignment/contest of sorts. Each month we will shoot items in that month that begin with the first letter of the month (S for this month). To further narrow it down I thought we would try picking a category for each week of the month and shoot items that fall in that category.
A couple of rules.

1. Photos should be taken during that week

2. Pictures should be your own work (of course those of you that have kids that want join in are more than welcome)

3. Only one photo of an item per person ( in other words if you get a picture of a steeple, you can replace it with another steeple photo but you only get credit for one of them) but each person can post their own steeple ( hope that makes sense)

4. You MUST have fun.

5. Whoever gets the most pictures in a category will get to choose the next weeks category. But lets go for quality as well as quantity

( This is a work in progress so any ideas for tweaking these rules are more than welcome.)

So let's get started shall we This first category will go from now until midnight on Sept 10th (and from now on I am thinking about going from Midnight Saturday morning to midnight the next saturday morning)

First category" S for september, category Animals so if it walks, crawls, or flies shoot away.

Princess in Oz, that may be your biggest category stretch yet... definetly lept into it "feet" first :lmao: (yeah yeah I know that was a BAD pun but hey it's late and I've been at work all day)

Hope that you're well rested now and back on your feet :thumbsup2, so to speak.

I don't know about Sasquatch being my biggest category stretch yet....I have a lot to live down - my HoeDown did not have a leg to stand on....and Whale in Ocean was completely legless :rotfl2:

The Aussie equivalent to Sasquatch is the Yowie; and there could have been one come to visit me, trying to squeeze on the uggs ;), which was no mean feat (or should I spell this as feet?).

(BTW - all puns, bad or otherwise, ARE intended in this post).

This doesn't follow the rules of Animals, however it brings up a point that I wanted to make about nailing down a specific category being a very tough assignment. In this case I expect to see a whole bunch of spiders and squirrels with the occasional skunk or snake. Other than those, this is very limited. Perhaps trying this with a more open category would be better? It is not my thread so it is up to you, rmdavis. Just a suggestion.

Oops. Guess who didn't read the instructions carefully? :rotfl:

I didn't even see the animal part (I guess posting in the early morning isn't my thing).

Let me go ahead and post a different shot that does meet the category. What's funny about this shot (which is the only one that I have right now that is an animal) is almost a twin of one that has already been posted

I guess it's that time of year for these guys to show up in peoples gardens. :rotfl2:

I guess I will just post this one as my pic of a spider.

And this one of a spider crab? It's days were numbered but it is a spider crab just the same....

Andrew, I think you are right about the narrowing it down and am really considering after the 10th (when this category was going to end just opening it up to any S pictures for the rest of the month. (but you did manage to get 2 for one in the spider crab picture if you add in the seagull too :lmao:)

Princess I never realized that ya'll had a version of bigfoot. Another great feet-ure of these posts is the learning about other places.

Haha! I didn't even think of the seagull. Maybe there are more S animals than I thought.

How about a swallowtail

The picture was actually captured in late July but I am just now getting around to looking at the pics and doing a little processing
