We would love to add-on 50 to 100 pts at our home resort at WLV but it seems impossible to find anything like this, especially trying to keep it in our use year.
So my question is....what are the pros and cons of owning at 2 home resorts. We would be considering adding on at OKW, probably 100 pts. Do you regret not owning all pts at same resort or do you find this to be a plus? Wondering if owning multiple contracts becomes confusing.

We own at OKW and HHI and have the same use year at each. It is no problem at all. We also use the points from OKW at HHI and vise versus with no problem. If you really would want to buy at your home resort of WLV, keep watching the reasales and I'm sure you will find something. It will also help to call the main resellers and tell them what you are looking for.

I own at two resorts (BWV and WLV). The only time it gets confusing is when I'm making a reservation at BWV within the 11 month window and have to borrow from the next year. I usually end my conversation with MS by asking how many current points i have (and where) and how many I have in the next year. This way I can make a decision as to whether or not I have to bank this years points. I do have the same use year with both places. I would think it would be more confusing if you had different use years.

Do I regret owning only at one resort? No, it just happened. I've never even stayed at WLV. We sometimes take quick trips (long weekends) and usually stay at OKW. Not because of availability but because that is where other friends own and we want to be together.

We have 200 points at BWV, and now attempting to get 70 points at Vero Beach. Our hope is to make 4 night reservations at Vero, and use the rest at BWV. All have (or will have , we find out tomorrow) March use year, and this saves use from making 11 month ressies and calling for Vero at 7 month to get 4 nights. Hope to go for spring training 2005.

We have 160 at VWL and 100 at BCV. Both have the same use year. I don't think it gets confusing at all really....and it is really nice to have two home resorts. I'm glad we did it this way because after checking in at BCV my husband said he liked it the best. It is just nice to have other options :teeth:

We have 3 different resorts all same use year

As noted above the cons come from booking at 11 versus 7 months if you need to/want to use Resort A points to complete a ressie at Resort B

What you may find is you end banking some of your resort A points and B points and maybe borrowing resort C points etc. and then you need to track the point action for each resort

MS is more than happy to answer your queries as you book/bank/borrow and take points provided you are within booking windows from whichever resort contract set you want to provided you are explicit with them

As noted, always open and close the call with a "roll" list of which resorts and point balances you would have

Now if you had different use years things get a little trickier with banking and borrowing

thanks

5 contracts 3 resorts and two uys here..

and I gotta say MS is wonderful in helping me keep it all straight. But you have to be on the ball too... stating clearly which resort/UY you want to use for which vacation. And at the end of each call, review your totals with MS.

Yes you bank on one contract and borrow on the other... but it can work out very nicely.

Keep us posted!:bounce:

I own at 4 resorts, all with the same use year. It works for me. I just keep a running balance of each resorts points and never usually have to worry about 7 month windows. I make sure that I am on the same page with MS and find its a good idea to do a review at the end of each call to make sure they've taken the points from the account I've specified.:earsgirl:

We own at BWV and OKW.

The only caution I would give you is to keep in mind how the 7/11 month window works. We initially had 250 pts at BWV and then thought we should add 25 pts at OKW, to give us more options. Problem is that when it comes to 11 month reservations at OKW, we only had the 25 pts (plus banked or next year) to reserve with. So, the first time we tried to book an extended stay there, we could not do it at the 11 month window. Instead, we had to book at at BWV and then hope to change it at 7 months.

We solved that problem by purchasing 300 resale points at OKW. Now we can do pretty much anything at BWV and OKW.

So, all in all, it's not bad, just make sure you have enough points in the second resort to be able to take advantage of the 11 month window.

Pros...We own at VWL and BWV, and find one of the biggest pros is having the 11 month advantage at two different resorts. While we will be "sampling" other DVC resorts, we find that the contrast between VWL and BWV is great in terms of vacation experience, both wonderful but very different. We bank one and borrow on the other to allow us to book our vacations all at one time at the 11 month window.

Cons...It does take a bit more thinking to manage two contracts and two different UY's, but find that Dave Frederickson's point tracking software helps us very much. And I'm sure that Caskbill's will too when it's complete! ;)

If we could start from scratch, we'd still own at two resorts. Obviously, we'd like the same UY's, but when looking at the resale market, there are so many variables that we discounted the UY aspect.

Good luck!:)
