We are thinking about the July 2003 Eastern cruise and were wondering....

1. Are you able to use points for 1 adult and 1 child and pay cash for the other adult and child?? We only have enough points for 1 adult/child.

2. At booking at 11 months have you had trouble booking the room category and deck that you want??

3. Are the cash prices about the same through member services as they are through a travel agent??

Any other comments are much appreciated!!!

We cruised in March 2002. I used points for DH and myself and paid cash for 2 DDs. My understanding is that you can split the points and cash.We booked right at the 11 month window and didn't have any problems. I did have to pay the entire cash price ahead of time. Good Luck:bounce:

I also booked a 4 day Wonder cruise for this November using both points and cash. I believe if you need more than one cabin, such as we did, one person in each cabin must be booked using points.

We had no problem booking at the 11 month window. I think you'll be fine.

We had gotten a slightly better price with DVC than the TA we checked with, though I believe this may depend on which travel agency you go with. If you're going to use DVC points, I think it'll be easier to let them book the whole thing though.

When you book a cruise thru MS using points and cash combination, the cash price you pay will be a pre-arranged price that is contracted between DVC and DCL. It is a slightly discounted fare, but not as good as the Early Booking discounts you can get through DCL direct or travel agents.

That is why some people elect to rent out their points, then book their cruise entirely on cash. That is a strictly personal decision, however. I have gone the points/cash combo route and found it to be the best way for me to cruise. I advise checking all avenues and then deciding which way to go. Good luck and be sure to visit us on the DIS Cruise Board! :)

We went on points in June. The adult rate was the same. The kids rate was 629 via DVC and 799 through DCL.

We cruised last year, we are a family of five and decided to go with two inside staterooms. First two in each room are adults prices/points even if children. So, I paid 4 adult prices with points and 1 child with cash plus $75 exchange fee. No trouble booking 11 months prior to cruise. We are also now going to book for July 2003 West. Carib. cruise. I plan on paying 3 adults with points and pay cash for 1 child and 1 adult. I do not want to borrow all of my 2004 points - only a few. Which cruise are you taking? Planning is the best part and can't wait to book in August.

We will be cruising in Aug on the Magic using points. The only problem we had was all the Cat. 10 "secret porthole" rooms were booked at the 11 month mark.
