We will (hopefully) be in Disney 5/27-6/3. DH and DS are huge Star Wars fans and this will be our first time at a Star Wars weekend. We will get to our resort around 5pm on Friday (before Memorial Day) and will be there through the following Friday. What days and times are usually best for catching all the activities? Are there SW things going on at night? I know my son would go crazy to get picked for the Jedi training!!!

Any advice/hints you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Star Wars activities are only on Friday, Saturday and Sundays, and mainly during the late morning and afternoon hours. If you want to get pictures and autographs with the main celebrities for the day, you have to get in line early and get an armband. Once they're gone for the day, they're gone! There are other photo opportunities with costumed characters all day long, and set times for the Jedi Trianing activities, which usually take place next to Star Tours. There are usually special editions of WWTBAM, but only the first two shows of the day.
Have fun!

I"d definitely not going your arrival day. Most of the activities will be over by the time you arrive. I'd get there first thing in the morning so you can take advantage of everything that's going on.

We are not Star Wars fans, or un-fans for that matter, but we ended up there on a Star Wars weekend this past year. The coolest thing to me was that at MGM Mickey is Jedi-Mickey. Back towards the Backlot Tour there is an area that you can always meet Mickey all day. We walked back there first thing one morning and he was standing in the street with NO LINE. We walked right up and got a picture - he's so cute in his little costume!

Do any of you have photos of Jedi-Mickey. This sounds like a fun event. My hubby would love to go. He love the whole Star Wars theme at MGM. He would have stayed all day if I let him. I will have to look into going in 2006.

A quick pop of Jedi Mickey in my browser brought up several personal pictures people have on their websites, so try that.

I have pictures of my sons with him (it is a WONDERFUL treat to get pictures with the different "Mickeys" to me), but they are at work.

My kids aren't that big of Star Wars fans, but we were there for one of the Star Wars weekends, and it was a lot of fun.....lots of nice little surprises. I personally thought one of the most entertaining things was the entrance.....we arrived a little before opening time so of course there were crowds lined up at the turnstiles, and they had StormTroopers on the roofs over the turnstile areas doing a little comic routine. Best standing-in-line entertainment we saw! My DS, then 4, got his picture taken with Luke Skywalker with no wait. There were lines, but not too long for the other characters.....at least from what I could see.....DS didn't let us even on the same street as Darth Vader. (One big, scary guy when you're 4 I guess!) We also saw the Star Wars edition of WWTBAM....as I recall, my husband ran over and got FPs for that while we were waiting for the Star Wars parade to begin.....again, no trouble getting in. We went at opening on a Sunday and all of the crowds, attraction lines, and autograph lines were fairly short until early afternoon, so I'd definitely recommend giving Sunday a try.

There is NEVER anyone in that meet n greet location, even when it's Sorcerer Mickey. We had MM to ourselves for about 5 minutes one morning last month.

That morning our son decided to be ornery. He closed his eyes and turned his head away for the first photo the Disney photographer took. But, after a couple minutes horsing around with the mouse, we got the photo below. :)

For photos of Jedi Mickey, check out the SWW info on www.mgmstudios.org.

The armband thing has been replaced with FastPass at the entrance to Who Wants to be a Millionaire! It has made it much easier to get autographs of real Star Wars celebrities. Check ourt allearsnet.com , starwars.com , and the force.net for Star Wars weekend info.

Thank you so much for your replies! I really can't wait to see Jedi Mickey!

I know we are going to have a great time!!!

Does anyone know if the celebrities that are there are in costume? Or street clothes?

My would-be Jedi would be thrilled to meet C3-PO, but not necessarily the actor who portrays him!

If the actors are not dressed, are there other characters in costume available for autographs/pictures?

My wife and I were at MGM last year for SWW and it was very cute. The first two sessions of WWTBAM-PI are star war episodes (we skipped these shows) and for the rest of the day, WWTBAM-PI was the normal show.

There are a large number of autograph opportunities for various characters through out the park.

One interesting thing was that we had some guests in Rebel coustoms show up for a couple of rounds of WWTBAM-PI. It was cute.

The actors are never in costume. They sign with their real names, not character names. Lines to meet the actors use the FP system to issue line tickets.

There are costumed characters available throughout the day in various locations, especially in the area near Star Tours. Some are face characters, and some are masked; as with other WDW characters, the masked characters do not speak. These characters will sign autographs with the character names. The lines to see costumed characters are pretty short, and do not require FP "line tickets".

I think you might have already seen a photo of Jedi Mickey, but here's another one just incase someone is interested...

Sounds like fun. My hubby would be more interested in going back to the world if it was on one of the star wars weekends. He just doesn't feel the magic. lol

I saw some photos of Jedi Mickey but lost he page. He's soo cute!!!!

I get more excited with each of your posts!

My DS(5) is already "practicing" for Jedi Training! Boy, I hope he gets picked!!!

Thanks again for all the great info!!!
