???'s for DL and DW folks

So I have read and reread and read some more on here, other sites, and books. Now a few ?'s no one has covered (that I have found)

1 Does DL have the pressed pennies like DW does (ds loved them and I will start to gather pennies and quarters if that is the case--- I will also pack his little folder for them).

2 What characters should we plan for (he loved the autograph cards I printed from a DISigner this spring and would do more for this trip)

3 Do any DISigners make DL specific designs that I can make a shirt for him from?

4 Playhouse Disney in CA according to the book I read has different characters than we saw in DW--- can anyone confirm who is there?

5 Can my cousin, a so. cal resident get us the 3days for 99 deal or will we get carded at the gate? (what is the best rate we can get?)

6 Photopass was so cool in DW, dont see so much talk about it here... I am aware it is there, but what are the differences? (oops... didnt know shares could not be discussed anymore, sorry!)

7 Pin trading... I assume is big in DL as well? DS should bring his correct?

1. Yes, DLR has pressed pennies. For a complete list see www.parkpennies.com

5. Yes, your relative can purchase the S. Cal discount pass for you if he is going with you. I believe DLR's policy is that that 1 person in your party show a valid S. Cal id (although it is understood that they hardly ever ask to see it).

6. They have photopass in DLR, however "shares" are no longer allowed to be discussed here on the DISboards.

7. Pin trading is done at DLR, so bring your pins!

Thanks! I didn't know about the shares, when did that happen? Is photopass still worth it?

Yes and you can get a list of their locations at City Hall and/or Guest Services I believe.

There are a few definite Meet & Greets at PFF, Pixie Hollow, Mickey's House, in Toontown, Winnie the Pooh....other than that it is the luck of the draw on any given day.

I believe it is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and Little Einsteins. Someone who has gone recently can confirm?

You may not get carded at the gate, but if your cousin is going with you I think it is fine to use them....it's been debated back and forth.

I guess there isn't as many photographers around the park, so you never know what you will be able to get.

We did a share this spring that worked out great, do people here do that for DL as well (if yes we would be interested in joining one!)
Photo shares are no longer allowed I believe.

FYI, the photopass CD at DLR is only 59.95 plus ~$7 shipping when ordered online.

If you only want the plain pictures, without editing them, you can get the CD at the parks for the same cost (no shipping), and they often have a deal that includes a couple/few prints for the same cost.

I checked out the DISigns board and got some cute DLR designs for our trip last Dec. Some of the designs are really, really cute and the designers are awesome for sharing their talents. Most will customize designs if you ask them.

The problem I had with making my own shirts was the cracking and peeling of the transfer paper. After a couple of washings the shirts started to look really terrible. So I spent a lot of time and money on shirts and designs and ink for the printer to have a shirt that could be worn 2 times at most.

Now we just go to the character warehouse or the WalMart on Euclid, near DLR, and get shirts there for 5 or 10 dollars with designs that last a really long time.

The problem I had with making my own shirts was the cracking and peeling of the transfer paper. After a couple of washings the shirts started to look really terrible. So I spent a lot of time and money on shirts and designs and ink for the printer to have a shirt that could be worn 2 times at most.

Have you TRIED putting parchment over the designs and re-ironing? My instructions said to do so if the design got cracked--I'm not certain it works, though, since I haven't had to try it yet.

I didn't have any luck at the character warehouse--there were some shirts that were OK, but nothing that I thought was worth $15-$30, which were the prices I saw. Maybe I just hit it on a bad day, though.

Don't forget a few nickels, as there's at least one pressed nickel machine (two WALL-Es and an EVE!).

Someone reported recently that there are fewer CMs who appear to do pin trading at DL but I would imagine it's still worth it.
