Is there anything within walking distance of the ship? Or Is some type of transportation needed at these ports?

In Nassau the whole shopping district is within walking distance.

I forget the exact times, but you will stay at Nassau until late in the evening. There is plenty of shopping in Nassau within walking distance, however if you want to go to Atlantis, you will have to take transportation. You are in Freeport until 5pm. There really isn't anything to do at the port except for a small straw market. You need to take a taxi to Port Lucaya or the International Bazaar. It's about a 20 min ride. Port Lucaya is very nice. It feels safer than Nassau and the beach is gorgeous! Taxis are only $5 per person to Port Lucaya.
