Did anyone get to watch Ryan Seacrest's debut on Wheel Of Fortune today? I wonder how he handled the job well and is he better than Pat Sajak?

I will have to check that out. I didn't realize it was so soon. DH asked he the other night when his debut was, I was like oh probably sometime in October :rotfl2:

We had it on last night, but I couldn’t 100% pay attention to it with a new puppy in the house. What I did see of it I thought was good. I like Ryan Seacrest and I think he’ll get better with every show - he needs to develop his own comfort level. WoF is on at 6:30pm by me, so we watch it every night as we eat dinner (we have a TV in the kitchen).

I watched a bit and generally like Ryan. I thought it was odd they didn't mention Pat by name.

I think he'll do fine and will get better. Personally I thought he had a bit too much of a radio voice than talk show and his words seemed so enthused and a lil rigid. Nothing terrible, but I'm sure he'll get better.

As a side note, I'm not a fan of the new set.

I didn't watch, but Seacrest has a lot of experience hosting stuff, so I'd imagine it won't take him long to get into the groove. I guess it will just be a matter of whether or not one likes his hosting style.

I like Ryan but I don't watch Wheel so I have not seen him on it. I'm sure he will do great, he is a natural and has an easy going way about him.

We watched it and I agree that the new set was not as appealing as the old set, it just was screen generated. I thought Ryan did a great little intro of his love of Wheel and how its a dream job for him. I think he has the ability to have the witty banter that Pat was so good at with the contestants.

I thought he did great. He had clearly studied how Pat did things because I noticed he used many of the same phrases and mannerisms.

That is what happened to us we did not realize it started yet and as we turned to that channel to get ready for our 8 pm show caught the last 5 minutes. Wish a bigger deal had been made so we would have known.

I think he did well. I think he's trying to stay low key at the moment and not insert his own personality in too much right now, in case that turns off too many people. In time, I think he will be able to make it more his own.

He did a good job. Hosts like Seacrest, Jennings, and Carey who took over from Sajack, Trebek, and Barker have big shoes to fill. I try not to compare them because it isn't fair to the new hosts. They need to make the shows their own, and I hope Seacrest will do so. I am glad Vanna is on for another year!

Ryan Seacrest did a great job for one of the first game shows he's hosted in a long time. Sure he has the first time jitters and he has to find his groove, but it's clear he's going to work out and I'm glad to see that is the case. Ryan is a really nice guy who is becoming the face of entertainment. It will be good to see him in our living rooms for hopefully many years to come like Pat was. I was not a fan of the updated set, it looked very stark, as well as the updated graphics (players heads in squares with the puzzle on top of them).

I saw this when I saw clips of the new Wheel Of Fortune on Youtube this morning and when I saw the new set of Wheel Of Fortune it reminded me of a Wheel Of Fortune video game brought to life and whoever thought of this set idea? The bonus round is also ruined and I find it hard to believe that the contestants can now choose any letters in addition to the RSTLNE and an LG has been added and one vowel can still be chosen and it's impossible to win and I don't recall Wheel Of Fortune having a hard bonus round. The letterboard itself looks like something out of a Wheel Of Fortune computer game as well. Also how does Vanna turn the letters? Does she use a stylus now?

Vanna hasn’t turned letters in years. She would tough the letters for them to display.

I think he is going a good job but the contestants don't seem remotely smart from what I've seen so far.

I watched the tail end of the show again tonight. They got rid of having the players show up in squares at the bottom while watching the puzzle. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what you are talking about. RSTLNE has been pre-chosen for quite a while now. People used to waste the few letters they got to chose from, picking those letters as those letters are the most popular in words. So, once the show made those letters pre-chosen that gives the contestant a chance to pick other letters in addition to those.

LG is a brand of appliances and a sponsor. (Those letters may change if they get a different sponsor.) Again, adding those letters also helps as more letters show in in the puzzle. I actually got the phrase correct as there were so many letters exposed. 🥳

Also how does Vanna turn the letters? Does she use a stylus now?

For years now, the letters have been touch screen, like one's smartphone screen. She only has to touch the letters and they appear.

I loved that Ryan added two Eras tour tickets to a New Orleans trip one of the players won tonight. She's going to take her daughter.

Of course those types of things are in the show's budget, but Ryan himself is a very generous man. His foundation builds broadcast media centers in pediatric hospitals for sick children to use and pretend to be on radio/TV.

I've met Ryan several times and he is as down to earth and as kind as he appears on TV. He comes to places with one person rather than a whole posse, and when I last saw him, he greeted me with "Hey! It's good to see you again!" while he likely didn't remember my name, he did remember we had previously met and was totally up for taking pictures.
