RV'ing from Disneyland to Disneyworld

I don't believe this is correct.

When you buy third party Disney doesn't have a clue what you paid for your ticket. I bought 7 day park hoppers a few months ago from a third party for about $380 with tax. The list price through disney is around $460 I think. When I went to upgrade to APs, they credited me the ~$460 (disney price with tax) and I only had to pay the difference.
I concur (sort of), in that when we upgraded in August to AP's we also got Gate price. I think however, you have to use the tickets at least ONCE. (You would still get the value of that used day as long as the overall ticket is not expired). If, however, you go to the concierge or Disney Springs to "Upgrade" the ticket, they DO know that it was a "Discounted" ticket and will not give you the full price. (at least that's what I have been told). This makes sense to me since the tickets don't ever expire UNTIL you have used them. Then you have something like 10 days to use them up. So in the system, Disney keeps track of them separately UNTIL they are used (which starts the expiration timer).

So to get the "Gate" price value out of your tickets, you are just better and safer to use it at least once and conduct the transaction at the Guest relations inside the park. Just my 2.5 cents..

I would also suggest spending a day in the downtown/riverwalk area of San Antonio if you can build it into your itinerary. Not sure where to park an RV -- but there are a lot of touristy things to check out and some pretty good restaurants in the area. They also have riverboat tours that can be quite fun. Certainly something different and you won't find in another city.

When I watch these RV videos of Full Timers they all are downsizing..???
I'm sure some are. I not a full timer, but many of the ones on the Forest River forum have some pretty big rigs. I like to watch the Tiny House shows and crack up when they are going for a "big" place at 250 sq ft. My trailer opened up is 415.

I'll second the Riverwalk area. I've been there for a few conferences and it is a very neat tourist area.

I watch those shows and sometimes just wonder... Why not buy an RV (well except for the poor insulation factor).

Ill add that to the things that are along the way that we should stop. Thanks

We are doing this trip in the Spring. We are going to Tucson (and checking out Saguaro National Park) overnight at Catalina State Park, then on to Carlsbad Caverns. We are staying at Brantley Lake State Park. Then on to San Antonio for the River Walk and Alamo. We will stay at Travelers World. Then we are continuing on to Dallas for the Bush Library and Arboretum. We plan to park in a Walmart parking lot and take an Uber in to the city...then move on that evening to the Tyler area for an overnight...Our next night will be in New Orleans. We will stay at Bayou Segnette State Park. The final drive day will be to just outside of Orlando before getting to the Fort the next morning.

We have not mapped out a route home because we are moving to Virginia...so we will head North from there.

Ohhh Catalina State Park might be a place we should stop at. We were going to do a Walmart parking lot in Tucson which is our first stop also but a park would be good to.
We want to stop in New Orleans also. But I think we are going to do the expensive French Quarter RV Park and ride our bikes to the Butterfly and insect Museum for the kids in the afternoon.
Anyone have comments on that stop and ride in New Orleans?

You've checked ahead about the overnight parking in Walmart? We found that many Walmarts (and boondocking websites) will show that overnight parking is allowed, but the CITY has an ordinance banning the parking. We deal with that in San Diego...the stores don't mind, but the city has a ban, so the local police enforce it.

We Will have time to walk in and ask if it's okay. We also have the Allstays app with comments of fellow RVers about a location. If we find a city has an ordinance then we will find a RV park to stay at. I plans on finding a place to stay by 3pm in afternoon to make it less stressful.

I think a lot of it is boondocking for extended periods. While "Walmarts" and the like aren't my first choice, I have stayed in several "Rest Stops" that have signs for "No Overnight parking" or "Maximum 3 Hours Parking" or similar. The reality of it is that I have never had an issue. Granted, I don't stay a LOT at those locations. I think if you are just staying to "Rest Up" with some sleep before you continue on, you will be okay (most of the time), it's when people push out the slides and spend an "Extended" time at a location like that.

We have gone to a parking lot (Walmart or otherwise) and pushed out our slide to stop for a "Food" break in the trailer, but that's typically less than an hour. Again, no issues as long as you consider where you are and what you may (or may not) impact.

2 weeks before we hit the road from Disneyland area to head to Fort Wilderness.
These came today.

Look forward to keeping you's up to date with YouTube daily vids of our travels there and of the week before, with all the prepping of the RV.

Oooo. New bands, old box. This means you're getting close.

Enjoy the road trip and post updates when you can.

Have a wonderful trip and enjoy the drive. Some of my favorite memories with my kids are of our cross country RV treks. The simple things are what they remember, like having lunch in the trailer in some little colorado town. It's just nice to spend time together and see the country.

Well the time has come and tomorrow we are on our way from Rainy Southern California to Florida.
We are giving ourselves 8 travel days to make it.

Have a great time at Disney. Your kids will love the trip, and always remember the memories. Safe travels. Looking forward to your reports.

Safe travels! I'm not into camping but have always wanted to RV across the country! Will be following along in your journey :)
