I know that disney does have RV parking at the parks... can anyone give me info as to where it is? proximity to TTC at MK or entrances at others... approx. tram ride times?

We are going for a week beginning Oct 15, and this is the first time bringing the motorhome. We're staying at FW of course! But, our kids are 8,6,2, and will be 3 mo. at time of travel.... so, I'm thinking it may be more convenient to drive and park the RV at the parks while we're there, that way, I can go out with the two little ones and let them nap, eat, etc... while Dad stays in the park with the two older ones...

Anyone have any words of wisdom about this? Is it worth the effort to move the rv after we've set up at the site? Would it be just as easy to take the bus back to FW for our breaks?

I don’t think I would drive the RV especially to MK. The RV parking varies some but most of the time they have you park at the very end of a row away from the tram. It is a very long walk just to get to the tram. It would be much easier to catch the boat to and from MK. It drops you off right at the main gate so no ferry or monorail ride to and from the TTC. A couple of times at Epcot they had us park in I think it was row 20 or 22 a very close up parking lot that you could easily walk into the park. But other times we had to park at the end of the rows. AK does have a special parking lot for RVs that is pretty close but still a good walk into the park especially if the weather is bad. (They don't run trams to this parking lot.) At MGM we have always parked at the end of the row. We are locals and camp mostly on weekends so if we go into the parks on our last day we have to take the camper. Otherwise I would not talk the camper to the parks.

I agree with Memph1s. Unless you were going to use the Motorhome to go out mid day and eat lunch or take a break, I think I'd use the buses to travel back and forth.

well, that's kind of what we were trying to decide... with my two little ones, I KNOW that they (ME!) will need a long break right around lunch time... the older two won't need one... so, I know we'll head back to the camper for that... I'm just trying to figure out if it would be easier to bring the camper to the parks, or use WDW transportation to get back to FW for our breaks.... :confused3

Very good info about the location of RV parking, Memph1s... THANKS!!! :thumbsup2

Leave the RV at FW. Unhooking the water, electrice and sewer and then hooking them back up doesn't sound like alot of fun. Disney has transportation to and from all the parks and it really is easy(If you read your transportation guide given at c/i)to get from the Parks back to FW in the afternoon.

By going back to FW mid day, everyone gets a needed break. Whether they know it or not, even the older kids will really need a break. Makes those long evenings at the parks much more enjoyable.

I know that taking a 2 year old and a 3 month old back on transportation alone could be difficult but I'd think unhooking the rv daily would be awul. I'd make everybody head back for lunch and a break and then let dad and the bigger kids go back to a park--if they want to. Our kids are usually happy spending the evenings at FW--biking, swimming, riding the golf cart, visiting the playgrounds, campfire, etc.

I know the buses get a bad rap here on DIS, but I have found them to be a god sent when I'm tired. Just plop down in the seat and take a nap on the way back to the Villas or FW. The boats are the same, only shorter rides. I'm not sure I'd take real little ones on the smaller boat, though. Agree with the others, it's too much trouble unhooking and re-hooking the lines to move the MH, PLUS, the challenge of trying to re-back into your site. :scared1:

I think it would be easier to drive a two bedroom villa at Old Key West into the parks everyday!

Consider this- you are required by rule to only move your vehicles when checking in and out.

The boat launch is a short distance away.

The walk from the RV area to the gate might easily be the same hassle as getting from the RV to the boat launch!

Sewer hookup EVERY NIGHT after the parks when all you really want to do is study the back of your eyelids...
