What a great trip! Great weather, pleasant crowds...
8/2 Highlights: Walking through the main entrance, collecting multiple FPs with our AAA passport, the first DL Buzz ride and emailing our scores home, Space Mountain - wow!, meeting my nephew and his family at the ES, first meal at Rancho del Zocalo, fireworks from Main Street near the hub.
8/2 Lowlight: Checked in at work to find out that my dear friend had been rushed to the hospital with a mysterious seizure, room not ready and bogus internet access at the ES, DS misplacing his cell phone (but he found it...)
8/3 Highlights: Early morning at DL before the crowds, playing with nephew's family around NOS, hearing that Mary Lou was alert and stable, riding Buzz and Space again and again, my DS finding me at the hub 2 minutes before the FWs started (good thing he found his cell phone), seeking out hidden Mickeys and Magical Moments pressed pennies.
8/3 Lowlights: None
8/4 Highlights: Being the first guests through the castle for EE, making the top ten in Buzz (OK, so the park had only been open for 35 minutes...), DS riding golden teacup and carrousel, first DCA ToT, first Soaring for this trip, watching Steve and Donald's film, watching Aladdin without having the performance cut short, checking into the GCH with most wonderful room overlooking Grizzly River Run, meeting the family for dinner at Goofy's, getting a call from DISer JonetteA while at Goofy's to discover that she was also at Goofy's, finishing off our MM pressed penny collection.
Lowlights: None
8/5 Highlights: Meeting JonetteA at Guest Relations to pick-up the complimentary passes for the day, running into family at SM, spotting a cat near BTMRR, LUNCH AT CLUB 33!!!!!, photographing the last of the hidden Mickeys, getting soaked on GRR and then getting up to our room within a minute to dry off, riding Space again, getting good news about Mary Lou (benign tumor), watching the FWs from the preferred viewing area. Oh, did I tell ya, I HAD LUNCH AT CLUB 33!!!! (Thanks Jonette!)
Lowlights: DS leaving his cell phone at the arcade. Silly boy. He was able to retrieve it though, so just another minor blip.
8/6 Highlights: EE again! (Thanks to the boards for letting me know that DL hotel guests now get EE rights). DS riding golden Dumbo, more of the best: Buzz, SM, Splash, Indiana Jones, Soarin', ToT, and GRR, commemorative plate and desert at Carnation cafe, ELP, and just lovin' being at the GCH.
Lowlights: Not managing to catch up with our family before they all left.
8/7 Highlights: DS getting a top 10 score on Buzz (very early, but still...), and later almosts getting to level 5 (mind you, we don't know any of the tricks), DS agreeing that we should upgrade to APs after telling me before the trip that he was getting bored with DL, one last GRR before check-out, one last Soaring and Buzz after checkout, pea soup at Andersons on the way home, our 2 kitties running to greet us when we pull into the driveway.
Lowlight: Traffic on I5 all the way to Coalinga. Sundays are not good days to drive back.
Overall highlight: Spending a wonderful week with my DS, knowing he was having as good a time as I was. That, and going to Club 33.
