Wow, This might a bumpy ride for anyone following this trail

Hey everyone I remember the DIS announcements about WISH and thought that is a board I will never visit or certainly post on but here I am and right now glad it is here.

With number 50 coming up next year I figured hay how long has it been since I visited the doctor…then it was where is that letter they sent telling me my last doctor was leaving town and here is the new one that is taking over. There is a big mistake here the letter is dated Sept 2001..time flies when you don’t want to here bad news.
OK make an appointment show up early and the nurse does the prelims. Blood Pressure high not scary but slightly raised eyebrows.
Next the scale which except for the last doctors office visit in 2000 is the only time I have been weighed and it is obviously still broken. Cool down from 341 to 338 in only 5 years. Heck at this rate I will be back to my Army weight in 165-170 years.

To keep everyone from falling asleep ends up after a few more visits and much blood work High blood pressure, insanely high cholesterol and lets not forget elevated blood sugar.

End result doc says take this pill once a day this one once a day and these twice a day before meals. Stupid me I say doc that is only 2 meals not my 4 plus snacks. Drum roll as I start feeling dizzy and sort of hear “no more sweats cut down on the carbs and start “ fading fast here “ a 1400 calorie a day diet”. While lying prone on the office floor he adds since you have Hepatitis C no more Vodka. I think it was very dark out by the time I regained conscientious. Bill for the copay and $742 for new scale pinned to my shirt. That was one sucky day-week-month.

June 13 I said my farewells to my buddies a freezer packed with mini Reece cups Klondike bars and a 1.75 liter of Stoli. Along with those a wonderfully huge sized can of Cashews pieces available at your local Sams club. No more ladies at McDonalds smiling faces telling me have a good days while handing me my number 2 breakfast and number 2 or 3 Lunch daily.

My goal is to drop half my body weight basically around 170 would be great.

Oh, one point last diet back in 1985 or sometime I was one of those other people hated because I can have huge drops for months without starving.

Phone rings the doc again “ you need lots of exercise also” click.. why wont this man leave me alone.

Real info started Diet and a little exercise on June 12th

Start weight 338 pounds with 5 minutes on Elliptical that had been a wonderful auxiliary closet and it is too hot outside to walk during lunch at work.

Aug 11th 290 pounds 15 minutes on the elliptical and still to hot outside at lunch so I got a treadmill and should be up to an hour a day by this weekend.
Elliptical are just as bad as stairs to fat guys like me 20 minutes will be my max for a long time.

1st goal 240 by Dec 3rd my next trip to WDW and UF. I really want to go to IOA and UF and ride the rides instead of sitting in Backwater and Alchemy all day since I am too fat to fit on anything.

Wow just think how nice it would be not to get winded walking up that sneaky hill when entering DAK.

I hope to post weekly updates but sorry they will arrive with some smart a>> comments.

Thanks DIS and everyone that took the time to read my dribble I have enjoyed reading many of the other Journals the past few weeks.

Welcome, Rush! You are at the right place and on the right track!

You CAN do this!!

Welcome Russ!!! WISH is a great place to be...I'm sure Mike (Mykelogan) and Don (DisDon) will visit your journal.

Baby steps, Russ, baby steps. One thing at a time can help. For exercise, park in the farthest away parking spot and count the time it takes from you to get to the building from the car. The main thing is to really keep moving!

You can do this, Russ!!!! I know you can...really and truly. Take it one day at a time, okay?

And I'd leave a cheer for you, but there is no cheer smilie. That will have to wait. Sorry!

Hi and Welcome.

You have come to right place for support. DIS is the best place!!!

You are on the right track.....you can do this!

Your cheer:

:cheer2: Day by day!
:cheer2: Pound by pound!
:cheer2: RussH's just doin' it!
:cheer2: No messing around!

Everyone thanks for the support so far it is reasonably easy to continue.

Saturday will be my hardest day I expect. For the past 8 years I go to my moms house and have breakfast then usually somehow take her shopping. Shopping is the wrong term it is more like looking but that is just fine with me.

The breakfasts we had in the past were the full blown Pancakes Bacon eggs biscuts and gravy and of couse Goetta.

We have trimmed off the biscuts and Gravy and Pancakes so now it is just Eggs some Toast and of course Goetta which I wont give up. For those of you about ready to ask Goetta is a very mid western item made up of finely ground pork and pin oats cpompressed into rolls or blocks then sliced and pan fried. It is not really greasy when cooked and I use pam.

That is it for now oh except for the number 288 on 8/14

Thanks again everyone

Hi....How are things going for you this weekend?

Hope you are have a great weekend

Hello everyone it is finally time for my Saturday update on Sunday afternoon. Something happened this week that made me finally realise I am starting to lose some weight. A guy thing sort of ...I have for the past 20 years been a under gut belter basically instead of having my pants up around my waist it sort of follows the underside of my belly. My work pants that were getting snug went right up to my waist on Wednesday and I left them there. A very strange feeling and will take some time to get used to but these sacrafices to my wardrobe will have to be made.

Other then that Saturday breakfast at Moms was not so bad and I just doubled up treadmill time later in the day.

Thanks again everyone and this weeks numbers are 282.5 just 112.5 pounds to final goal and 56 till next WDW trip yeeesh.

Welcome, Russ!! Come on...YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

:thewave: :thewave: :thewave:

Hey, Russ! How's it going? Was Saturday breakfast good this week?
Love the pants comment -- big sacrifice, right?

Keep up the great work! That doctor is going to be thrilled when he sees you again!

Work was a little nuts the past 2 weeks buy I was able to watch meals and they only had 2 birthday anniversary friday holiday and any excuse they can come up with cakes. Skipped the 1st and only had 2 bites of the other no icing.
Worked out Saturday breakfast so I actually did not put any weight back on these past 2 weeks.

Looking at other boards I have noticed a few posts about dieting while at WDW.
Other than some health issues one of the reasons I am try to cut off so many pounds is so I fit on everything at UF and IOA. Along with not getting winded walking up stairs and ramps like SM and the entrance to DAK.
But when I am on vacation I am on vacation and plan on eating all the things that I want. When my goals were set up back in May I planned on taking off food limits on my vacation week including my drive down Thanksgiving and Christmas days.

Enough for now current as of this am was 273, Just 46 more to vacation weight and 103 to overall goal.

Strange this happened at work yesterday. Someone actually asked if I was loosing weight. This threw me off because I did not have a snappy prepared answer. So I just sort of mumbled not really and went on about my work.
The reason is that I have told no one about my diet maybe a few have noticed the lack of Mcdonalds Wendys and Arbys bags in my trash but until yesterday no one has said anything.
Only really heavy people will get this - As of this morning I have lost 70 lbs. and still am fat on any chart scale and airlines.
At work there are about 10 people that are always in the lose 10 lbs by summer routine each year and are constantly complaining about this diet or another low carbs low fat and exercise programs. I never said anything because until May I did not care about my weight/health.
If I stay on schedule by next spring I will be asked by all of them how to lose 10 lbs.. Of course 1st thing said will be "In a week?" which should freak a few out.
But should I tell them my secret?...It is very simple.."PUT DOWN THE @^%$ FORK" Of course there is more to it but really most things can be shrunk to one line.
Enough rambling for now check back in on Sunday.
Thanks everyone for for reading this and taking time for the positive comments.

You are really doing great. And that fact that people are now noticing is even more to celebrate!!!!!

Keep up the good work and...

Keep on

Weekly update..
I have this big upstairs closet that over the years has recieved those itmes of clothes that dont fit but I cant get rid of. The last load was a big fight trying to stuff in just one more item.
Yesterday I opened it for the second time to find some smaller jeans. It is good enough that I have a waist again no more under gut bellting but for something actually to be removed from the closet made a really great day.
I wonder if Aigner shirts will ever come back in style LOL...

Seatbelts- It seems Sealbelts are made for normal sized people. Sure they stretch but the rewinders only last a year when pulled to the max every time.
The ones in my pickup have been changed twice for new rewinders. This morning I noticed when pulled all the way out there was a more slack a lot more slack. Maybe early next year the next set of rewinders will last.

This weeks weight 269 on goal maybe a little ahead.
Going out of town this coming week luckily by myself taking my own salad dressing and meal bars.
I am staying right between a Pizza Hut and Mcdonalds this should be fun.
Until next week goodby everyone.

Oh I so hear you on that!!! I realized I could lose 100 pounds from my starting weight and STILL be obese! It's kind of a unique perspective when you've got so much to lose. Glad you found us over in the 300+ club!

I think you're doing a great job! I hope you have a wonderful week!!! :sunny:
