Rush Hour in Jacksonville?

The last stage of our drive from Maine to the Beach Club Villa's starts in Amelia Island Florida. I'm hoping someone can tell me when morning rush hour is in Jacksonville? I know we will be anxious to get "home" but are we better off to sleep in abit to avoid the traffic??

If you're planning to travel after 7am then you're better off to take the I-295 beltway around Jacksonville rather than try to stay on I-95 through downtown. And even then you may meet congestion on the southside where I-295 reconnects to I-95 as commuters from that side of the city try to merge onto northbound I-95 into the city. (However those vehicles exit before the vehicles wishing to go southbound, so stay away from the right two lanes as you approach that junction.)

Most other times you're best off to head directly through the city on I-95.

Another option is to take the scenic route by the beach and connect with 9A. The Eastern bypass around Jacksonville is almost complete, with only one traffic light where 9A meets 202.
