Hello! I'm posting this both here and in the runDisney forum. Does anyone know of a place where I could rent a good racing wheelchair in Orlando? I recently broke my leg and have been approved to move to the duo wheelchair division but I'm trying to find a place to rent a good wheelchair (pushed) for the Springtime Surprise Weekend. I have a place near home that I can rent from but I'm trying to avoid flying with a huge wheelchair. Thank you in advance!

**Edited to add: I tried doing a google search but everything that pops up are the scooter rental companies

I’ve never seen any (not to say I looked for one before though).
The only place I can think to ask would be Orlando Medical Rentals - they probably have the widest assortment of rental items. I don’t know if there are any racing wheelchair dealers in the Orlando area, but if there are, they might be a possibility

Also, perhaps check with bike shops in rhe area, I know out here in California, we have seen some bike shops have them. And some will do rentals, not sure about renting them specifically.

Thank you everyone so far! It sounds like there aren't any (I reached out to the CM too but they don't usually deal with equipment) so I'll probably be bringing a big bag of wheelchair with me to the airport :)

Wheelchairs are much easier than you would think they would be on planes. They handle much bigger, much more expensive, much more complicated disability equipment all the time. That isn’t too far off a stroller as far as they are concerned.

The hard part is the Ubers, even that isn’t a huge deal in Orlando, assuming this thing fits in a normal SUV. If not, you’re probably stuck with Mears (shudder).

I would suggest Sunshine Flyer over MEARS, we used them and they were great. Going from the airport to the hotel, there was a little confusion on how to handle DHs ECV, but they figured it out by the time we went back. We arrived only a few days after the service started, so we understood some confusion as we are outliers and they just started. Them figuring it out over the next 10 days shows how quickly they were able to adjust and make sure their staff knew what to dom
