I seem to recall a running track on the Magic? I've taken up running since my last cruise, but really don't like treadmills. Does a running track exist... and if so, has anyone used it? Do you end up having to dodge obstacles and weave in and out of chairs, etc?

Thanks,
David

Just like the Magic, the Wonder has a track on deck 4. 3X around = 1 mile.

It is a regular deck, people walking, standing at the rail, lounge chairs.

You will probably need to adjust for various people walking, but the loungers pretty much stay against the wall (away from the rail).

:cutie:

The track is on deck 4. I think it's about 1/3 mile. It's usually not very crowded. I'm a walker and there are usually two or three runners when I walk. There are nice lounge chairs on this deck, but they are up against the wall so there is enough room to run. The shuffle board courts are on this deck that can sometimes be a problem if there are a lot of kids playing. When you are running on the sides of the ship it's open and breezy ( there is a high rail) but at the front and rear of the ship it's an enclosed hallway. It's a great place to run.

I suggest early morning. Not necessarily crack of dawn early! I was usually up around 7 or 8 and would walk/jog the track while waiting for the rest of my family of sleepyheads to wake up . The only other people I saw were crew and other like-minded runners/walkers.

I had a great time running on deck 4 a couple of weeks ago. Much better than the treadmill on board (deck 10 fwd). During the middle of the week prior to port at Puerto Vallarta, I got up and started around 5 and ran 39 laps. The crew were washing the walls and the floors. It wasn't a problem at all. A few runners joined me during a few of their laps. I got to enjoy the cool air on one side and still calm on the other. The enclosed front and back was really nice and warm. Best run for me, and I was able to enjoy the sun rise and the ship coming in to port. It was exhilarating and rewarding.

Hope you get to enjoy a fun run!

I look forward to jogging on my Disney Cruise. I run on deck 4, early in the morning usually between 6-7am. There are very few people out and about at that time. The only problem I have had is that they close the (Bow) front section on port mornings when they are docking, as the equipment to secure the lines are in that area. I then carefully cut through the forward elevator lobby to the other side to complete my lap.

If you run during other times of day when more people are up and about, it is sometimes hard to jog past side by side walkers in the narrow (Bow) front and (Stern) back sections. They have mirrors in a couple of narrow sharp corners to help you see people coming from the other direction. Runners are supposed to run counter clockwise and walkers can go either way, so you need to be careful in the corners.

One time I was jogging later in the day and passing a lady with a stroller, when she made a quick turn with her stroller and the wheel caught my ankle. She apologized and I smiled and said that I’m OK and continued to jog (It didn’t seem to bother the child in the stroller). With all that said, I love to jog on the cruise ship - with the sea breeze, beautiful sunrises and gazing over the water toward the horizon.

With a little care you should have a wonderful run on your cruise.

Tim
