Running in WDW

Anyone done any of the races at WDW... 1/2 marathon, 5K 10K etc???

I want to do one in 2010, and I want to do tons of research on it. I am wondering about special room rates, do you need park tickets for the day of the run etc etc.
I can't seem to find a specific thread for this. I did go on disneyrunning.com, but it wasn't exactly what I'm looking for....maybe I just haven't looked at it hard enough.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

My wife and I ran the half marathon in 2004. At the time there were no room discounts specific to the races and yes, we did need need to buy tickets to get into the MK a few hours after the race.

This doesn't help now that it is closed, but everyone who ran or walked that year was given free admission to Pleasure Island the night of the race.

I too am aiming for a race in Disney. I am hoping for Jan 2010 but that may be put on hold if we get to Disneyland Paris this summer....then it will be Jan 2011.

It would be great if you could post any info that you are able to find.

Lots of info on the WISH section of the Dis boards....scroll down from the main discussion forum page....way down.....

There is a subforum for Events/Competitions. Click there, and start searching and/or asking questions.

That forum seems to be a bit more active than Disney Running, though the latter site is good for reading people's race reports and finding maps of the running trails at the World.


I don't think there are any particular discounts for the racers. I usually use my AP discount. You can book some deals with Anthony Travel, but I don't think they really discount much, if any at all.

To DO the race, you don't need tickets, even if the race itself will run through a park. But to visit the parks before and after the event, you will have to buy a ticket. Some of the event registrations have included a complementary ticket for one day....but the marathon and half do not.
