Who has experience running at Disneyland?? Even if you dont and are familiar with the area i'd appreciate your input... I know i've read that the best thing to do is run around the property as it goes in a big square... First off to calm my mother's fears is it "safe".... is it a decent area...well lit...sidewalks...etc... AAAAAAAAND for me..are there any hills or other obsticals i should know about??? about how far is it... thanks for any input on running at DL! Thanks!

I was considering how to get my running in while at Disneyland as well. I've been running 3x per week doing the Couch to 5k program and should be on about week 8 when in Disneyland. I've decided with all the walking in the parks that my legs will be plenty tired and maybe it's best for me to miss a week and to just pick back up when I get home. I know that doesn't answer your question, but I didn't want you to feel ignored!

I found this on another site hope it helps.

One route at the Disneyland Resort for both walkers and runners is the loop around the resort perimeter. This loop consists of Disneyland Drive, West Ball Road, South Harbor Boulevard, and West Katella Avenue. These four roads circle the resort in its entirety in a rectangular configuration. The loop totals roughly three miles, with Harbor and Disneyland Drive each running about a mile long, and Ball and Katella each running about a half a mile long. If you wish to halve the route, cut through the resort esplanade that separates Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure parks. Start at any spot along the route, and keep taking right turns if you are going clockwise (or left if you are going counter-clockwise).

Can you tell me more about the Couch to 5K program? I used to run, but got off it for about 2 years after my youngest was born and now I'm looking to get back.

I too am considering running at DLR - just because I know that I will need additional calorie-burning to compensate for additional calorie consumption. ;) I don't have any info, lol, just wanted to say "Go you!" for doing it while there. I know it takes a lot of dedication to get up early and run.

I use the C25k program at cool runnings. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml This is my third time doing it - I don't have a treadmill so I basically start running again when the weather allows.

Yep, that's what I'm doing too... I actually have the C25K application loaded to my iphone... love it!

I think I'm the poster child for the Couch to 5K... LOL. I had arthritis as a kid and was not allowed to take P.E. or run... only water based sports (swimming, water polo). I thought I could NEVER be a runner. I've tried this and have no joint pain and I love that I can run out the door and be done with my workout in approximately 30 minutes. Yahoo!!! I don't have a treadmill either so I'm doing this outside... rain or shine!

But I think I'll be taking Disneyland week off... although I too think I could use the work out for the extra calories!

I had lost 30 pounds and last summer I ate whatever I wanted at DLR. I thought for sure I would have gained a few pounds by doing this, but I didn't. We did so much walking and much of it was fast walking. I am a fast walker anyway, and we tend to tour DLR commando style. I know not everyone is the same but possibly fast walking inside the park might be good enough. And no, I don't mean mowing people over! Just walking with purpose. :) Also, no sodas with meals saves money and calories.
