RUN don't walk away form MK evening EMH!!!!

Totally agree with everyone except for AK.

AK EMH were awesome in June!

Think about it.

Otherwise I would avoid!

i was and still am a big fan of the old e-ride nights. i am now an even a BIGGER FAN of the old e-ride nights. this past july3rd-13th we decided to try and do the night ehm at MK. it was quite a scene. my idea of a great night at MK is not having to wait till 1AM to even get close to any major attraction.

i started a thread not too long ago called e-ride fans unite. well i was suprisingly met with some comments from some well known posters who couldnt understand why i would want to pay for something i could get for free. well now that i have experienced e-ride nights and ehm night hours at MK during peak times i can honestly say that unless you are very lucky the emh nights at MK are a waste of time. long waits and crushing crowds were the norm. i will gladly pay the extra money to have the opportunity to have the ability to at least ride all of the great attractions in MK that i came to ride in the first place.

maybe its time to start that thread again and try and get some real support here

Just back last night. We did EMH at MK on Friday 7/22. HORRIBLE!!! (*insert all above posters negative comments here.....*) :sad2:

You guys tried to tell me before we left, but did I listen????? NO! :scared:
We miss the old e-ticket nights, too. We did this last year same week and paid for e-ticket night. Loved it! Walked on anything we wanted too. :lovestruc

I'm going to have to figure out how to take DD14 out of school for next years trip during off season. :teacher:

So the moral to this thread is..... Run from EMH!!!!! :moped:

::yes:: I 100% AGREE!!! ::yes::
EMH for the evening were horrible in June....I can't imagine how much worse they must be for July and August!!! :scared:

I'm going to have to figure out how to take DD14 out of school for next years trip during off season.
Me too!!! DD is starting high school and in the marching band....
So we are talking about March or April....... But it's looking like the first week of June again!
But we are hoping they start E-nights again!!!!

We just got home today - we were at the World from July 15 to the 25th - we found that it really worked out well to visit a park the day after EMH - whether it was am or pm. We did not do any EMH and found the waits to be very reasonable with the exception of Soarin and Splash Mountain. My DH is now a believer in the Dis Boards after we followed that advice!! MK was best on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and AK on Sunday was super. We were there in 2004 during Easter and the crowds in the summer are much smaller in comparison.

I just had to jump in and say thank you, thank you, thank you. We are leaving in the morning for Beach Club (tuesday) , Saratoga Springs (Wednesday, Thursday) with full intention of taking advantage of EMH at AK and Epcot. Sooo glad I happened to read this board tonight. !!! :sunny:

Thanks to all your sharing I think we will have a much better time, just walking over to Epcot tomorrow night, when it is EMH at AK.

Angie :wave2:

We are going at Thanksgiving time, doing parks Wed, Thurs.,Fri, Sat. I had planned on doing MK on that Wednesday before the crowds really get bad that Thursday, Friday ,and Sat. Even though the EMH are not our yet , they have been having them at MK on Wed.
I was going with the philosphy to do MK not on a EMH day, but I heard MK is horrible on Thanksgiving Day. Do they change things during the Holidays? I guess I will need to re-think things. What do you guys think?

Okay, so let me sound stupid and ask;

Are the EMH bad for all of the parks, or just MK in particular? I'm an early morning person, while my wife is more of a late-nighter. Whose clock should we follow? Thanks!

By the way, we leave next Thursday, so the advice would be timely. Thanks!

DS8 and I are going for a quick trip. Landing at 3:20 p.m. on August 12 and leaving August 16. Here's what we had planned.
-Friday, August 12 - Arrive 3:20. Go to hotel and then get over to MK asap. stay for evening EMH until we're tired or it is too crowded.
-Saturday, August 13 - Animal Kingdom early entry. Then go over to MK when we're done at AK.
-Sunday, August 14 - MGM. Arrive at opening. EMH evening, so stay if we want to.
-Monday, August 15 - Epcot early entry.

Three questions about this schedule:
(1) Do we need a new plan for Friday? Is MK going to be so crowded that it's not even worth going?
(2) Do we need a new plan for Sunday? Don't care if we actually stay for evening EMH, but will it be so crowded that we need to choose a different park?
(3) I was kind of hoping that crowds would be a little thinned out then since it's so close to the start of school. Wishful thinking?

If yes to any, any recommendations for a better schedule?

DS and I aren't fans of coasters or scary rides, so we won't be riding TOT, RNR, Space Mountain, etc.

Thanks for your help. I thought I had it all worked out, but this thread is scaring me!

When DD and I were at WDW in June the crowds for EMH were awful. It was just as bad or worse at the other parks as at MK because there are fewer major rides.
I e-mailed quest relations and to my surprise I got a call this week from them. The CM said they are responding to guest comments. I asked if there was any possibility of E-Nights returning. She said if there are enough requests "you never know".
Wouldn't that be great? Even if they keep EMH maybe they could have E-Night at another park giving guests a choice. Personally, I would pay anytime for the old E-Nights. :bounce:

We are doing the EMH at MK on 9/28 (night). We arrive that day, are having dinner at Chef Mickey's, and want to enter the park for Spectro and Wishes. I hope it won't be bad....

Anyone have experience with EMH in September?? I'm figuring most kids are in school, right??

We were there from July 17 thru 24th and we avoided all EMH parks. We went to MK at regular park opening on Tuesday morning July 19th and basically walked onto everything. It helped that everyone went to EMH there the night before. We used this strategy all week and did all the parks with hopping and breaks, and basically did everything we wanted numerous times. I was originally going to do at least early entry, but changed my mind for no good reason at the last minute.....what a blessing. It was our first trip and on that tuesday morning we were "first family" at Buzz and got our pictures free and a lovely certificate! We never waited more than 15 minutes on anything even rides with a 20 minute standby. :flower:

My party decided it was better for us to get up and get going in the morning-arrived at MK by 8:34, Epcot by 9:30, AK by 9:15. None of these were Early Magic Hours. We were able to do all we wanted by 1:20-2 ish, then back to WL for awhile, have supper and back to the parks by 6, never stayed later then 10. we were hot, but not cranky and not overly tired, always in bed by 11, raring to go the next morning. I personally do not see how parents can keep young kids out in the parks till midnight, or 1-2 a.m.

I never had the chance to do the e-ticket nights but from what a fellow guest at the WL told me, it was 100% better then EMH.

O.K. I have to jump in on this one and say that we were there in early February (before the President's Day crowds decsended) and let me tell you...it may have been value season but EMH nights were HORRIBLE - not just at the Magic Kingdom but at MGM as well (can't speak for the other two parks).

It was so bad we just finally gave up and left. We knew a lot of "regulars" there since many people go every year for Mardi Gras, and they all agreed that it was BAD! My point is that this was not just my perspective but that of a lot of alot of other folks as well.

I do not have a suggestion as to how to revamp the program, but I REALLY long for E nights to make a triumphant return.

This is the first calendar year EMH evenings have been offered, so there's no historical precedent yet with which to judge September.

WOW sorry to here others had our experience w/EMH.

I was glad to see some found it doable and had a great time!

My DH thought that if they had ALL the parks open on the same night that ALL the WDW resort guests wouldn't be at the same park - they would simply stay at the park they were at that day.

I thought that somehow if they split up the resorts - like ALL StARS, GF, BC would all go to EMH on Monday and a few others would go to EPcot that night etc and rotate the resorts through the parks during the week would give WDW a better idea on crowds to expect and transportation needed etc - just a rough idea though.

I STILL WOULD LOVE THEM TO BRING BACK E RIDE NIGHT!

SUE :)

Goodness - We were there from 7/17-7/23. Our experience was in the minority of some of DISners here. We went to EMH at Magic Kingdom on Friday 7/22. It was FANTASTIC!. :cool1:

Everyone loved it from my hubby, 15 yr boy, 11 yr girl, 2 yr old boy and 1 yr old boy and ME. The little ones had already taken 2 LONG naps during the day. We were really considering changing how we might tackle the parks the next time because of it. We did more from 9pm-2am than almost during an entire day at Magic Kingdom in regards to riding.

We walked on without no more than a 0-10 minute wait to the following rides - most of them it was just walking through the que line:
Carousel, Buzz Lightyear, Small World, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Dumbo, Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean pirate: , Haunted Mansion and Mickey Philharmonic :3dglasses . We went on Aladdin back to back to back rides as we didn't even get out of the carpet while waiting to load some more passengers. We also went back to back rides for Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, and the Carousel.

15 minute wait: Space Mountain, indy speedway, Big Thunder Mountain railroad :cheer2:

Peter Pan was a 25-30 minute wait in line even at 1:30am - we DID NOT go on that ride since we thought that was a little ridiculous since we were practically walking onto other rides. :guilty:

The littles ones LOVED it - it was the best thing we did for them regarding rides. It was no longer "HOT, HOT, HOT" just hot but without the sun :sunny: beaming down on them. They were not pitching fits about the rides or cranky - just wanted to "let's go on it again" even the one year old!

We went to EMH at MK Monday, July 25th. It was horrible. I kept thinking, it will get better (less crowded) as the off-site guests leave...but it did not.
We saw a lot of people leaving around 10:00 pm (when we arrived) and thought "Yay!" The park was open 'til 11:00, when there was a Spectromagic parade. We had the misfortune to be trying to get from Frontierland to Tomorrowland at the time, and were trying to go along the pathway by the river. There were people standing along the wall, watching the parade. There were also people walking along the wall, edging around the watchers, all above our heads. I was afraid someone would fall off the wall and land on us. Then, two men with double rented strollers were trying to fit through the path at the same time, but in opposite directions. They didn't fit. The one in front of us told us to back up...yeah, and the 40,000 people behind us are all going to back up??

I'm not saying I will never try the MK EMH again, but I think we would get our wristband, leave, and come back later after people start going home.

Oh, and we saw plenty of people with no wristband riding the rides that we got on. No one checked our bands.

We did EMH during our trip this past May14-24th- We did it at the MK and found it ok. We walked right on Pirates, Buzz, Stitch, and TTA. We avoided Fantasyland rides because it was PACKED in there-
I think it matters during the season you are there. ALSO enjoy the MK at night, its cooler, USUALLY less crowded, and we got lots of characters attention as well!! Enjoy it, its worth it during the off peak times!!

This past Monday before EMH actually started they had a 'new' exit - from the washrooms next to the Tomorrowland Noodle Station you walk behind Main Street (ie behind the scenes) and exit by Tony's at the hub.

This is apparently in reaction to the crowds lately.......
