Okay - not saying all evening EMH are bad but on Monday July 18th MK was PACKED! I mean like a can of sardines - like a subway car at rush hour - people were RUDE! I was personally shoved and not by accident by 3 seperate people. The crowds were building from around 8pm until we said ENOUGH at 11:30pm and left!

To give you a visually over by space mountain were you can sit on a bench and see the tomorrowland speedway cars go by - across to Buzz it was wall to wall people! Over by Liberty square/HM area we stopped to watch the Spectro magic Parade - actually couldn't move so we decided to watch the parade(we were heading over to Splash mtn) and the walkway down off the street that goes from Liberty square to frontierland was packed we ended up standing on the wall - folks w/ carriages trying to pass each other on the ramp down to the walkway yelling at each other a person went by me and held my leg and tugged - I said can you let go of me - comment was well if you weren't up there people could get by! Beleive me we were NOT BLOCKING IN ANYWAY THE WALKWAY! after the parade we stood on the wall for 20 minutes before we could get down.

At cosmic rays I witnessed a lady belittling a young girl who was maybe 8 or 9 and was having trouble w/the ketchup dispenser - I couldn't beleive it! - I reached over and helped the little girl fill her cups - then said to the lady "was that so hard!" I really wanted to smack her!

In line for splach mtn - a family literally shoved me almost off the step down to the line to be in front of us - not an accidental bump - a shove!

Waiting to see wishes we were at the exit of the rose garden on the TL side of the Castle sitting on the circular planter in the upper edge -- as were others - when a large group of folks pushed my DH fanny pack over towards me about 3 feet and began to put empty food containers down to "mark there spots" I kindly told the mother that that was my DH spot and he had just gone to get the kids something to drink - she just looked at me and didn't move her stuff over so I DID! then she bagan to push her stuff over towards a little girl who slowly nudged over and over around the planter until this lady had her spot! RUDE!!!!! If I was that little girls mother ....... - Anyways what goes around comes around - she enced up dropping and breaking her camera!
Sorry I don't feel bad!

Heading out we saw more folks entering the park then leaving. If Epcot closes at 9pm - AK 6pm - MGM 10pm - and MK is going to be open to 2am - were do you think most folks will be heading by 11p????

I LONG for the days of e-ride night!

Anyways - we went back on wednesday night and it was crowded(normal summer - use fastpass type crowds) and the folks including myself - was in a much better mood!

We are going in Oct. I think we'll just leave if it gets that crowded. Last year, we went in Sept, so I forgot that MK is open till about 11 in Oct on a Sat (not EMH night). I'd like to go to Trails End and the campfire, so we may just do the boat from MK thing, and take the bus back from MK back to AS Movies. Point is, if it's that crowded, we'll just leave. Or, better yet, just do what we normally don't do during the day- just walk around and drink it all in.

We were at the MK for Extra Magic Hour on July 11th and 15th, and did the EMH at Epcot on July 14th. Yes, it was very crowded (at first). We learned very quickly on our first EMH night at the MK to make a plan and avoid the fireworks/ parades. We found out that many people leave immediately following the fireworks (at 10pm), or following the second parade (at 11pm). The absolute WORST place you can be is on Main Street with thousands of people trying to leave the park at once.
For our second time at the MK for EMH, we waited to get in line for Splash Mountain until the first parade started (around 9pm). When we were done with Splash Mountain, most of the people were headed to the castle for the fireworks. That's when we split-up and my wife took our DD5 to Aladdin's Magic Carpets while I took our DS11 to Big Thunder. We were both done before the fireworks even started! During Wishes, we took the kids behind the castle and did SW, Peter Pan, Philharmagic and Snow White. When we were done with those four, we headed over to Stitch's Great Escape while everyone else watched the 11pm parade. When that parade ended, the park nearly emptied. By the time my wife and son rode Space Mountain and my daughter and I did Buzz Lightyear's ride, it was 1:30 am, and we were able to walk-on with no wait.
The EMH entices so many people to come to the park, but most come without a plan, and most get frustrated and leave. When all of the frustrated people leave at 11:30 pm, then you have a nearly-empty park for 2 1/2 hours to enjoy all to yourself. One bit of advice, though, take the next day off. We had planned a day off for our week, and decided to make it the day after staying at the MK until 2am. Our kids slept in to Noon, and we spent the rest of the day at our resort pool talking about how wonderful the evening before was. So, don't give up completely on EMH. Just go with a better plan next time!

We don't bother with evening EMH since the crowding does make it more tedious than fun. By using fastpass, we can go on any rides we're really interested in during the day, enabling us to use the night-time hours for other activities ( like sleep, LOL! ). This won't work for everyone, but we've been to WDW so many times that going on the rides isn't as big a deal as it used to be. If we do our favorite rides once per trip, that's good enough for us.

Okay, yasuern, I think you've nailed my decision for me. I've been on the fence about EMH nite at MK, and now I think I'm going to try to talk my family out of it. We're doing MGM EMH our first night, and maybe that will be enough to satisfy them, as far as being out in the parks after midnight!

Our experience with the two MK evening EMH last week was totally different than WVParkfan. We stayed until 1:45 both nights and the crowd never let up. During the old E-ticket nights you could actually get several rides in on the big rides like Space Mtn and Splach Mtn. Other rides like Buzz would actually be a walkon. All of the big rides had long lines and it was difficult to even walk around. We kept staying hoping that people would leave after the parade but it never happened. I am still amazed at the number of infants and very small children that were kept out until 2:00 am. Exasperated with the crowds in Tomorrow Land, we stood in line at Peter Pan for 30-40 minutes with small children crying and fighting with their siblings. This was at 1:00 am. Save yourself the trouble and just get to the parks early.

It was awful the two weeks prior to this as well. We left all but Friday the 15th as this was our last day. We did have a plan and left after we accomplished that. We tried at MGM--a two hour wait for RNR--no thanks I'lll get upint he AM and ride it twice and TOT twice and still have about an hour of other things! The new tickets are partially to blame--personally I blame them fully-- once in a park you are kind of stuck there reguardless of the crowds. Of course people are choosing to use them on the days that the park is open the greatest number of hours and there the problem ensues. After the first shot at it I found avoiding the PM EMH parks was the key to happy touring. The fast Pass machienes were running a littel weird as well--some days they were not even giving fast passes out at all for things like Test Track--No way they ran out of the days worth by 9:10 am as the sign stated! I would imagine once the summer vacation crowds disipate the EMH wil be jsut wonderful--much like E-ticket nights were. I can not go during off peak times though, so I will never know!

I was at O'hana that night July 18! No wonder the place was not packed! We were able to get seats by the window! We saw "Wishes" from O'hana! We were going to MK to take advantage of EMH after dinner, but we glad we didn't! We were so full and tired.. we just went back to our resort.

I know.. We too advantage of EMH in the morning at Epcot and it was kind of crazy too! And we took advantage of EMH at night at MGM on July 17 at the wait time at RnR was about 45!! CRAZY!! I didn't ride it.

I don't know if EMH is good or bad. It's like it's better to be in the park early in the morning with not much crowds VS. EMH in the morning and the place is mobbed by the disney resort guests!

I think the kids and I do better not doing EMH. Maybe EMH in the morning at MK is fine because most folks are not morning people and there's tons of ride and attractions open for EMH.

My God,
Thank goodness we are fortunate enough to go "off peaK this year.

(the week before thanksgiving).

Fantasia..... I read your signature and I about cried. I won't bother to ask what happened, but I must believe that a trip to Disney is quite bittersweet for your family. I am taking my DW and DD7.5 in three weeks time (from today) and I'll be thinking about your family!

We were there that same night (the 18th) and it was TERRIBLE! They had the middle of main street roped off and were jamming everyone up on the sidewalks. So you had people trying to leave the park and people entering the parks crashing into each other on the sidewalks. We went into Tomorrowland and the walk there was terrible. Wall to wall people. I still have bruises on the back of my ankles where a lady rammed me hard with a wheelchair. I guess I wasn't moving fast enough for her. Several people almost fell into ds's stroller trying to jump over him. We rode the TTA and left.

My advice: avoid the park that has EMH. We were at EPCOT and MGM when EMH was at a different park and the crowds were nice. The kids were able to get onto rides with almost no wait. I think EMH is a good thing. Everyone and their grandmother is at that specific park leaving the other parks less crowded for us DIS'ers. :rotfl2:

I noticed that the crowds didn't let up either,I read somewhere(probably on the dis)that people that don't pay to park hop like to spend the entire day/night at the park with the EMH...

Why was Eride night better than EMH?? Is it because people had to pay for e-night?

Yes and they only sold x number of tickets(I can't recall how many but lets just say the place felt empty!)

I still am torn after reading the threads. Our family doesn't really go on the roller coasters so usually those wait times were high, but I would love to go on Haunted Mansion or even Peter Pan. I think those would be what I would go for at night rather than wait in line during the day. Peter Pan's Flight is always a very long wait. I went in Nov. and the wait was 90 minutes then and it wasn't even Jersey Week!!

Still in limbo :confused3 :confused3

You had to pay and there was a limit of 5000 tickets. We did an E-night in June 2004 and really enjoyed it. We tried an MK EMH night this June and left very soon after it started. We went out as the 11:00 pm Spectro was going down Main St--I was amazed :scared1: at the number of people following the parade into the park.

I am so sorry to hear this and I hope everyone considers writing a letter/email to Disney's Guest relations. I too wish ERide night was still around - it was enjoyable and we didn't mind paying the extra!

I also wonder how E-ticket nights could be so much better than EMH. I wonder if the situation has been made worse by keeping Fantasy Land open during EMH. Since this area was closed during E-ticket nights, I think many of the families with babies and young children opted not to pay the extra cost for E-ticket. It is hard to believe that the nominal cost of the E-tickets would make that much of a difference. I am also somewhat sure that the CM's are not able to make sure that all of those getting wrist bands were valid guests. The cards are not scanned and could be loaned to be used by others who were not resort guests. I know some of this was going on at the MK and MGM.
