A few places have been reporting that the track for the drop is not lining up with the lift tower and some major engineering (perhaps even rebuilding the lift tower) is necessary. This may set the opening way back into the summer. (not an April Fool's joke)

Theme Park review has been reporting this for about a few days and Screamscape is jumping on board too.

Was Manta at Seaworld suppose to open in May? I noticed on Seaworld's web site that it state coming in Summer of 2009? Is this opening also being delayed?

Manta has actually been doing test runs so I'm not sure what is up with that. I had heard that they were planning on opening Memorial Day weekend. They still are working on the whole water area though.
The construction walls are down on half of the coaster. Here are some recent photos...http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/updates/swo03.30.09/

When you look at the condition of Manta and compare it to the current condition of Rockit, you can see that there is still a long way to go with Rockit.

The plan is for Manta to open Memorial Day weekend with the AP preview hopefully the weekend before. I might go over this weekend for a little while and I'll see what's going on first hand.

How about some pics while you're there. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I heard about the problems with the coaster.. or the rumors.

I was thinking about pushing my trip back. I'd hate to spend all this money to only want to go back a few weeks later when it opens.

Fingers crossed it will be open in late June when I am there :thumbsup2

Universal's website still says Spring 2009.:confused3

Looks like Screamscape pulled their report. A link comes up if you Google it, but when you go to their page the info. is apparently gone.

We're there the middle of June, the teens are really looking forward to this coaster. May have to consider a day at SeaWorld.

Hmm, comes up for me. The following is from screamscape:

(4/1/09) This may just be a bad rumor going around and I know how fast some bad rumors can spread in Orlando, but this one is a little wild. The stories claim that the opening of the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit may delayed until Mid Summer or even later due to some kind of design problem with the ride’s vertical lift hill. As crazy as it sounds, the gist is that the tower may have been installed incorrectly and may need to be moved and rebuilt. Of course a variant of this rumor has been flying around ever since the tower started to go up when construction on the ride stopped for a number of weeks suddenly while they worked to finish up the new concert stage. Now the lift-hill tower rumor is back again… and while I’d like to stay that I just can’t believe that it’s true, strange things do happen from time to time. After all… it wasn’t all that long ago that Cedar Point had to delay the opening of Maverick so a major inversion could be removed from the completed coaster, because the forces were deemed to be unsafe for riders. Anyone know more about what is going on with the Rockit?

Screamscape link hasn't changed for me either. It is on their front page and then under Rip Ride Rockit on their Universal Studios page. Doesn't make anything more true just because they are posting the rumour, though. This is all pure speculation running on something someone was told.

Well the cause has been found...apparently someone is still a little angry that their home has been removed, even though it's been several years, he's still taking revenge...

(but hey maybe Universal should put Kong near the track anyway and have a large animatronic that doesn't break down in a major multi-million dollar rollercoaster like that Yeti down the road) :lmao:
