Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I'm thinking of starting an official everything new at AK thread. However, I'd be more than happy to step aside if someone here wants to start it while you are waiting and keep it updated regularly?

ETA: Got a volunteer.

  • Hi Everyone!

I know you all are so excited that this incredible theme park will be transitioning to a day-to-night park! It’s going to be amazing and I’m just as excited as you! Park hours have not been posted yet but the nighttime entertainment and activation is planned for April 22. Specific hours will be determined very soon. Please, don’t stress out and stay tuned!

Rivers of Light will be shown two to three times nightly, so everyone should be able to get a chance to see it when they are visiting the park. And while the Harambe Wildlife Parti will have the flavor of Harambe Nights, it will be available to everyone with regular park admission. No extra ticket is needed.

I hope this helps to answer some of your questions. There will be so much more information coming out soon!

I'm actually impressed that a response was written, as it would be much easier to not do so. At the very least, the message of frustration is being heard. I'l try to bury my cynical side and focus on the fact that she says Apr 22 is still the firm date. I'd love to get better planning details, but at least this snippet came through the Blog, which is where they keep telling us to watch.

I can help if you need any help. I've been on top of this thread and any in the rumors so I could help you go over what we do know.

Exactly! :headache:

Still, I can't really blame the people answering phones/writing blogs because I doubt they have the information either.
Usually that's true. In this case, she's the public relations manager at WDW. JMO-Her job title gives her a lot of credibility with me. If they were going drastically change things, I think she wouldn't have said anything until they were for sure. She certainly has to have excellent sources and contacts. ::yes::
It sounds positive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Help a newbie out here:
Our last day at WDW is April 21st with plans to be in AK on the 20th. It's our first trip in 20 years and with no plans to come back in the next couple years. We're not "Disney people" really. That said, of all the nighttime entertainment ROL is the most interesting to me (as is AK as a park, which I've never been to). I was hoping there might be soft opening FP options or something, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. IF we are able to book a preview, do we need admission tickets for that day or do our preview tickets provide us admission for the duration of the event?

I think the other thread is a good idea, especially because here we're mainly on the hunt for packages & FP's. There, we could talk about the night time safari and other things coming to AK.

And, of course, we could continue to talk about nothing.

And I have 25+ pages of nothing to catch up on since last night! What have you all been up to? Seriously 25 pages:p since last night! Silly DIS BOARD PEEPS

I think the costume blog post on the DPB and our comments have been pulled from the DPB page.
I thought it was posted on March 15th but I looked through the entire thread and didn't see the post let alone our comments.
Does anyone still see it?
The AKL ROL Costume Blog posts are still there, they are just a little trickier to find once they drop off the newest posts. It's easiest to find if you look under Destinations, then Walt Disney World, and then scan down the list of posts.

Just my thoughts-I don't think we'll have the answer to your ticket question until we get the actual booking information from WDW.
So far the possible preview dates (nothing firm) are April 15th and 16th. There is another preview possibility (or not) on April 17th. We don't know anything for sure. I know this is really thin information, but that's all we have for now. Maybe it helps a teeny bit.

Thanks for posting that...I had to leave for only about an hour, and you all got ahead of me by about 5 pages...still catching up!

Make sure to post a link here, if you don't mind.

Yes, the fact that she has confirmed the debut date eases my concerns about the CM comments of it being delayed. I am more confident than before that they were either misinterpreting the info given them or being misinterpreted by callers.

Didn't the Dibb info mention tickets? Maybe I am imaging it.
I know if they run it like Harambe Nights you did NOT need a park ticket. That is the most similar event I can think of
