Fellow Dis members, I have been hearing alot of rumers on VMK. First, that they are going to be bringing back out the retired Pirate Quest to co-inside with the Release of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on DVD. Second, I also hear that they are going to be releasing Series 3 at the parks soon? Does anybody have an idea of what that is going to pertain to? I am planning a trip to Disney World soon and the last few have been only exclusive to DLR. So, my question to my fellow Dis boarders is does anyone have any ideas what is coming up and should I wait till next year to book my trip. Thanks Tommy aka Dudetommyboy

I'm not sure about the DVD but i know they are having seires 3 come out in either december or the next few months, thats what everyone else it saying so thats my guess. I am going to WDW in december and i hope they come out with new stuff but i hope they keep the pirate stuff...

The pirate stuff is being rereleased, but are going to come with real pirate pins when you buy them. I'm sure someone that knows more about it could elaborate.

That's right, I am ordering a few when they come out in a week or so. You can either buy them at the park or order them by telephone. Each set will include 2 VMK cards and 2 real pins. You will not get to choose which pins you will get they will be packaged. The set costs $14. I do hope series 3 comes out by May when we are there.

I have read and re-read the pin information. I am not entriely sure that the code is for the same virtual items that used to be part of the quest. For example: One of the pins is of a pirate couch. The fine print does not say that you receive a code for a virtual pirate couch. It does say that you receive a code for a virtual item. Maybe this item is a pin of the pirate couch.

Again, I do not know for certain. I have just read and re-read the information that has been released and this is my interpretation. I may be missing something. Feel free to share (note: not attack) if I am.

Weeell... You're right, but in the picture, the pins were on the VMK cards and the cards had pictures of the old pirate items. So it's assumed that the codes are for the items in the pictures, but there's no real way to know for sure until it's released.

Could be, but I can't see them releasing a card with a picture on it of one item and the code for something else. Noone knows for sure, but why would they do that? There are some new chairs that haven't been released, but a seagull hat is a seagull hat...I would think anyway.

Sassymom can you please send me the link on the page so i can see the pins please? I am very interested in the pins as well as the vmk cards. Thanks Everyone for all their help! Tommy

But weren't those pictures the artists renderings and not pictures of actual pins? That would be why they were not that clear of a picture.

It does not make sence that VMK is releasing something they are advertising as RETIRED. It is lazy if you ask me. They could easily make new pirate items. It also means that the VMK people and the Disney pin people have to work together on this project. Since VMK is a seperate company I am waiting to see what is actually in the box with interest.

Here's the link to the original thread.

VMK Pin/Card series

Definitely real pins. They are not recycling old Series 1 cards. They've created a new VMK Pin Series 1, so I'm sure there will be more. Guess the old cards are retired but not the items. ;) Something else for us VMK addicts to spend REAL money on. :rotfl2:

I took a closer look and here is what I see. 5 of the original 7 Pirates items are being reused. Room, Hat, Wall, Couch, and Rug. Not sure if the Pirate Medallion is new or the old Tour pin and they don't have the Pirate stool and stick. 4 new items are Treasure seat, Ship's Bow chair and Ship's Stern chair. 4th item/card seems to be incomplete, the pin is Goofy Overboard, but no description of what the VMK item is.

I'm under the impression that that's for the stool. If you look closely at the picture, behind the sliding Goofy is the pirate stool.

Wow another advertising scheme? I still am NOT interested in buying that DVD for the vmk code but maybe for the *movie* like it's supposed to be bought for.

I meant that it was a picture of the artists rednering of what the pin would look like not the finished pin. I know that they are going to be real pin that you hold in your hand and not pixels.

I really think that it's lazy for VMK to rerelease something they said is retired. I happen to LOVE the pirate quest and I wouldn't mind having a lot more of it but I would rather have NEW pirate things to work with.

Your interpretation may be correct however, looking at previous VMK cards, the pin prizes other than magic pins hav "PIN" in their name that is written at the bottom of the card. This gives me hope that the prizes will not be virtual pins.

Regarding other posts about the pirate quest items being retired, I don't mind a re-release of the pirate items but there is nothing preventing VMK from tweaking those items just a bit to make them slightly different from the original prizes. That might satisfy the people who want these items and the people who want their items to remain retired.
