Rumor has it, Cinderella's Castle is going under renovations ....

I can hear it now--"we spent the night in the castle, and all you heard were toilets flushing all night long"...."The castle isn't as magical as it's cracked up to be--I saw some wallpaper peeling, They really need to renovate that place."..."We couldn't get a wink of sleep. We get to bed early, and first there were loud fireworks, next a couple of mice started talking loud in the next room, then some fairy ran through our room and jumped out the window. Finally, just as we got to sleep near morning all these kids started laughing and yelling outside our window! We'll never stay in this place again! Next time, we're off-site!"

:lmao: :lmao:

oh yes, that's gonna be a twelve page thread

I'm gonna miss the characters and gold trim on the castle also. How long will the crane be up? When will the outside renovations be done?

I'll bet that AFTER this promotion is over, people will be able to pay big bucks to spend the night in the castle. I mean, they're not just going to tear it down, are they? :confused3 I just have visions of the rich and/or famous shelling out the dough to sleep at Cindy's. :rotfl:
It may be many years before we could afford it, but maybe... :wizard:

Some people wandering the Disney property will be handed scrolls inviting them to gala balls. Riders on Pirates of the Caribbean might find pirates taking the seats beside them.

A couple of other rides, such as Space Mountain, are going to get changes.
long as they're on Disney property.

I would be fantastic to stay in the Castle and I would love to have Orlando Bloom  hop on POTC for a quick trip...I would have to chain him to the boat and ride him (I mean it :rolleyes1 ) over and over and over and over...you get the drift.

I hadn't seen anything mentioned about Space Mountain previously, but saw this in one of the earlier posts and this concerns me. I love SM as it is and I've heard previous chatter about Disney changing it into a launch take-off, similar to RnR. Don't get me wrong...I love RnR (it's my fav at MGM), but think that SM should be left as is.
If Disney really wants to make us happy, build a 2nd SM like the one at DLParis. Then we could keep the old and have the thrill of a newer version.

I'll be down to WDW in 94 days and am hoping a few of these great wishes will come our way.

This promo is just wonderful! I would love to spend the night in the castle! I'd love more so for my neice to get to stay in the castle! I'm sending pixie dust to everyone & my family also... in hopes for a DESERVING (ak not the family that is going to have a 12 page negative rant about the experience) family to enjoy some extra special magic. :wizard:

I wonder how I could get/or who has the job of picking these families for the promo. I'll do it!!!! :cheer2:

The hidden apartment
Inside the upper levels of Cinderella Castle, there is a penthouse that was intended to be an apartment for Walt Disney and his family when they were in Florida. After Walt Disney died in 1966, the apartment was left unfinished - for a period, Roy O. Disney was due to take up residence there but decided against it, in respect for his brother. This space is not large, and can be compared to the size of a master bedroom and bathroom in an average house. There is no kitchen or any other rooms. The penthouse served as the operations area for Vista United Telecommunications (switchboard operators). Up until 2006, it served as dressing rooms for the entertainers performing on Main Street and in the shows at the Castle Forecourt Stage. The location of the suite can be identified from the outside by locating the blue windows on the north and west sides of the castle, about 2/3 of the way up. The glass used is a very cloudy blue, so it lets in light, but it is not possible to see out. The suite adjoins an exterior balcony on the east side. The walls around this balcony are about 5 feet high so that people using the balcony durring park hours cannot be seen by park guests. This balcony affords views to the north, east, and south.

On June 7, 2006, it was announced by Disney that the apartment would be completely decorated and upholstered as a 'royal bedchamber', which can sleep up to four people. It will become available as a once-in-a-lifetime experience during the Year of a Million Dreams celebration taking place at all eleven Disney theme parks, and an overnight stay in the apartment will be a prize randomly awarded to a guest at the Magic Kingdom, or indeed any park at the Walt Disney World Resort. More details will become known as the celebration opens and someone stays in the apartment.

I read on another website that the gold decorations will be removed Sept. 10-13. Here it is.

- Crane load in - Sept 10, 2006
- HCOE Decor removal Sept 10-13, 2006
- Paint Castle - Sept 19 - Dec 5, 2006
- Castle Bedchamber - Dec 5-19, 2006

dpic...when I stayed there I missed out on a lot because I had to go to this ball; I didn't get home till after midnite and was totally zonked. Hey by the way, when you were there, did you happen to see my slipper.....it was made of acrylic or glass or something.

If I remember correctly, the apartment renovations won't be complete or ready for occupancy until mid-December. Bummer, since my trip is the beginning of November.
Hi This would be just PERFECT for me! I just booked one night at GF to celebrate my 50th Birthday (Dec.17-18th). But I would GLADLY "switch my resort" to stay one night in the CASTLE! I "WISH" those people from Disney that monitor the DIS boards are LISTENING!!! ;) Joan

what does it mean "pixie dust to everyone"...?? still learning ..thanks despina

I will miss the gold trim and characters on the castle, but certainly not the big old-lady broach that was pinned on the front of the castle during HCOE. I was looking at a video we had made of CSC a couple of years ago and it seemed kind of weird seeing the castle NOT decorated.

Big old lady broach... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm going to miss the gold trim and characters on the castle too. I really liked the way the castle looked with the decorations. (except for the mirror of course...or as you call it, the big old lady broach :rotfl2: )

I can't wait until next year when they put the castle cake overlay on Cindy's castle. Anyone else excited about that? :rotfl2:

I like the Tower of Terror idea - a lot of people would go for that.

Another, of course, might be the Haunted Mansion.

Castle, ToT and HM - probably the top three. I can't immediately think of another that would work really well.

It's too bad they didn't do that - three families each day could have had a "one in a million" experience.

I know most may be shocked to hear a Disney fan say this, but to tell you the truth, I wouldnt want to stay in the castle. I find the castle to be soooo mysterious, I am afraid if I stayed there overnight and had the place to myself, it would ruin the mystery. But I would LOVE to stay at the ToT!
And to comment on the castle decor, I am very upset that they're taking the gold trim and characters down. It added that much needed whimsy to the castle, and now I'll never see it like that again :guilty:

The last time we were there the crane was in front of the castle getting read for this last time. Now the crane is taking it down. I have a crane in last times pictures and now a crane for this one. I for one would like to see the castle just as it is, with out the crane.

I though the crane wasn't coming out until the 10th of September. now it will be there for my trip and in my pics. :furious:

I think in this case, the OP is wishing everyone good luck in winning one of the prizes. :goodvibes
