Hi all,
Last night I was browsing online and I came across a rumor on another disney board--that after 12/25/2011, fireworks would be cancelled indefinitely due to safety malfunctions. Anyone else heard this?

Here is what I have been able to find so far:

Two separate accidents involving the loading of pyro shells on the 22nd and 23rd have put the fireworks show at Disneyland on hold for the last three days. There is a show already loaded in the launch tubes, but they've decided to wait until the higher attendance Christmas day to use it. Then it goes dark again as a new performance can't be loaded until the OSHA officials show up to investigate on Tuesday. More info should be available on that day. - Al Lutz

That's what I've seen too. We were wondering why there was no show on Christmas Eve, but they did have the Christmas night show.

A cast member got hurt when a shell went off at the launch site. The state safety board is making them hold off until they fix what's wrong with the cannon

Actually, they are holding off until Cal-OSHA can inspect on Tuesday (accident happened Friday, Cal-OSHA is closed until Tuesday...) If all goes well, fireworks will resume Wed.

They were taking a ton of precautions last night with the fireworks. IASW was shut down until after the fireworks, and the whole area was cleared and no one was allowed close.

This reminds me of a rumor I heard last year right before World of Color opened.

I read that the cost of the DL fireworks show is in the tens-of-thousands of dollars PER SHOW range (approx. $30,000 per show). Even though World of Color was expensive to construct, in the long run, it would save an overwhelming amount of money to show WOC multiple times per night and decrease the fireworks to a weekly event.

I have no idea if any of this is true, probably not, just a rumor I found interesting.

Close. Investigators are scheduled to visit Disneyland on Wednesday.

According to a rep from the board, They are not making Disney hold off. Disney has one so on their own choosing.

Both of my comments are based on this article from the local paper.
