So I've been googling about Disneyworld and there's a rumor out there that a 5th Disney theme park is currently in the planning process. Does anyone have any info that might confirm or shed some light on this rumor?:confused3

They had some teaser info on the travel channel new years eve. It was after the Disney Cruise episode I think. That's all I got. :confused3

Our Wishes boat driver said it will be a "Villains" park with more thrill rides to attract the teen crowd. We didn't ask him or prompt him about it, he just shared it with us.

I heard the same thing about the Villians park when we were there in 2005 from a bus driver.

I would love a park with more roller coasters.

This would be awesome!! :thumbsup2 My DS, 9, is really getting into thrill rides and has asked to go to US/IOA this summer rather than Disney. I, of course, prefer Disney.

I wonder how long it will take to get off the ground. In this economy, I can't see too much investment happening :sad1:

It has been a rumor since AK opened.. rumors of Beastly kingdom, DIsneys Night Kingdom, and Villains kingdom has been floating around since the late 1990s and none of it has ever come to fruition.Plus right now they are cutting back park hours, shows, and parties they are not building anything large right now.

Well, in terms of planning, AK took over 10 years once Disney was committed to the project before they ever broke ground. Obviously, there's a lot that goes into putting a theme park together! I tend to agree with another poster though -that given the economic situation, this isn't a priority for Disney right now.

I think WDW is probably trying to stem the drift of teens from the park to Universal. There is this age around 12-15 or 16 that kids really want to go to Universal and not WDW because of the rides. We have talked to many families that have made the shift to Universal for a few years because their teens just were happier there.

WDW would be smart if they did something like that. :)

Like others said this had been a rumor for several years. It goes around periodically. Until Disney makes an official statement I wouldn't give it too much salt...

I wonder if we were on the same bus--we heard about it in 2005 as well :) . Seems like it's a long time coming.
