Can anyone tell me which beach they prefer?
We've booked the Rum Point beach day (w/o stingrays) and are considering switching to 7 mile beach instead. Bascially we're just looking for a nice leisurely beach day with a tropical feel - clear water, palm trees, clean beach, etc......
Thanks!!!

We didn't do Rum Point, but we did do 7 Mile Beach and absolutely loved it. We were also looking for a leisurely beach day and 7 Mile Beach didn't disappoint us. It is an easy 10-15 minute taxi ride, $4 pp each way. It is a very nice, clean beach, with restrooms, bar and food area (ask the taxi driver to let you off at the Holiday Inn). We did decide to do Stingray City this year, but we are booking with Captain Marvins, which has great reviews from this site.

We were just in the Caymans for a week. If you just want a nice beach then I'd do 7-mile. It's MUCH closer to the port - Rum Point is a good distance away and the "sandcastle" building part of the beach is smaller than 7-mile.

We did 7 mile and recommend it for reasons previously mentioned

what do you do once you get to the holiday inn, do you go to the desk and ask to use the beach, or just enter the beach area?

The beach area is located right across the street from the Holiday Inn - the taxi will drop you off right at the beach entrance, all you have to do is walk right on. When you are ready to leave go back to the same location and there will be taxis lined up waiting to take you back.

Oh, thank you so much. I was there last year but did stingray, and now I just want to enjoy 7 mile. Now I know just what to do bless you!!!!!!

We did the 10:00 AM -1:00 PM Captain Marvin Stingray trip and then 7 mile beach and it was great. On Capt Marvin we did 2 reef snorkel dives and then stopped at Stingray City. The snorkel dives were as good or better than SC!

The driver dropped us off at the Holiday Inn beach, which was about 3-5 minutes from Capt Marvins(yes, you walk right on the beach, and there is a beach bar for drinks and light food). We spent a couple of great hours on the beach, then took a taxi back to the docks and were there by 4:00.

Marklem -

Thank you so much for the info. We are also doing the 10:00 - 1:00 Captain Marvins Stingray Tour and I didn't think there would be enough time to also fit 7 Mile Beach in. If the driver will drop us off, we will definitely do the beach stop also. Thanks again.

I seem to recall another thread...something about the Holiday Inn being closed. Has anyone been there recently?

I'm also in search of a beautiful beach that's a short ride from the tenders...a bar, snack bar and beach chair would be nice too!
While I'm asking...how about rest rooms and some water sports to keep 2 teenagers happy!

Is there such a beach??? If there is, someone on these boards will know it about!

Sue

OH Well,

We missed the Caymans on our 2/22 mariner cruise, I didnt get to check out 7 mile beach at all.
