Rules regarding half of dining party using DDP?

Hey everyone! I just tried to do a quick search for this question and didn't really see what I was looking for, so I need some help with this DDP stuff from y'all. This will be our 5th trip to Disney and we've always paid OOP, but this time I was thinking of adding the dining plan since we are doing 2 show packages that aren't discounted (ROL & Fantasmic) and for a few other reasons.

So here's the situation: We are only staying 4 nights and have reservations for 4 different table service restaurants--1 being a signature. The signature restaurant is also on the last night of our trip, so I am wondering if we show up at this restaurant only possessing 2 adult credits and 2 child credits for 4 ppl, is it possible to pay for 1/2 on the dining plan and 1/2 OOP? If this IS possible, my next question is can my husband order an expensive item from the menu and him be the DDP user, and if mine costs less, me be OOP? I just don't know the rules & regs about all of this. I hope all of this makes sense, and I would really appreciate any insight that can be shared on this. Thanks!

1 adult and 1 child would use the credits, while the other adult and child pay OOP. I would have the least expensive meal be the OOP meal.

You get to choose which meals you want on the dining plan and which meals you will be paying OOP so just choose the more expensive adult and child meals for the DDP..

It's very easy! Just ask for separate checks. Tell you server who is using DDP and who is OOP. They are used to separate checks. Have the person with the more expensive meal use the DDP and the less expensive OOP.
