so... im still hopefully we will have a disney visa ro discount released in the future. Im going either way.... If I go ahead and pay a large sum on my room today with my disney visa.... if an offer comes out can I just go ahead and ask for the discount to be applied since i already paid with my disney visa or would i have to make another payment??

LOL, looks like we posted at the same time and the same question LOL.

I have heard that different CM's will handle the situation differently. I had made a room only reservation, using a Chase Visa credit card for the deposit for a trip we took last February. When I called months later to have the room only discount applied, they did not ask me to pay anything else. They just gave me the discount and that was all. But that might not be the way it is handled when you call. The CM's at Disney aren't always consistent. :confused3

When adding a DV discount you will either need to pay a new deposit using the DV (if you did not use it originally) or if you already used it they will ask you to verify the numbers again.

This is what should be happening and what you should go in expecting - naturally some CMs make a mistake and don't do either.

I have been told by different CM that the resort, room type has to be in the discount. Most of them won't just change your ressie# though some will but not Disney policy. I even email them & was told same thing had to be ava to get discount. No longer will apply discount to existing ressie, unless they have it for the % off etc

This has been my experiences so no flame just giving what I have found out. EX I had a room only for Dec & the military discount came out. They couldn't give me the discount for my room only as it wasn't ava. But I was able to change the dates so I could use it. She even tried to change it as she talked to a GS but no luck. But I still was able to get 40% off by changing dates. Up to Disney on how they do things. MHO

I'm a little bit unclear as to what you're trying to say...

But a room discount can be applied to an existing room only (or package) if it qualifies. If you had to change your dates to get the discount applied it was because the room/resort that you wanted for that time frame WITH the discount was not available. Even if it fell into the dates of the offer. Rooms are limited when adding a discount. But you can absolutely apply them to existing reservations.

There isn't "different ways" to handle the situation.

If you want to apply a Disney Visa discount you have to pay a minimum $200 deposit. If you have already made a $200 deposit or more to an existing reservation and want to add the DV discount, they will simply verify your card number and add the discount. If the CM does not handle the discount this way, they are dead wrong and not following Disney reservations booking procedures.

Which is exactly why I said that CM's handle it differently, right or wrong. :thumbsup2

No that is not what I have been told by Disney via email. As I said it was my experiences and MHO. They had the resort on my dates just not the type of room and they would not give me the % on my existing room only I had to change the dates. AGAIN MY MHO.

I think I stated what I posted. They will not just give you a discount because you have a existing booking. It has to be in the rules of discount dates & if they have the same resort & room then they can apply discount.
