Rule of four question

I assume the Rule of four rule applies to RCI trades. But if I transfer the points to RCI prior to the 4 month window can I use them at any time or am I still restricted in those last four months of my use year?

(NOTE: just to head off the "rent response". No, I do not just want to rent my points and book direct with the resort. Thank you for the suggestion :) )

It doesn't apply to RCI. It only applies to trades into the Disney Collection and similar. DVC turns the reservation that the points represent over to DRC to sell to pay for the trade.

Thanks. I just assumed that due to the "accounting" there was probably the same type of restriction on RCI. (Looking to use my points for a resort at Christmas which is within 4 months of my use year end. The resort has openings so it's just a matter of getting my family organized SIGH!)

It doesn't matter when you are going or when your UY starts, it's just during the last four months of the UY, you cannot book and stay at the same time for those trades that require DVC sells a reservation to pay. They don't sell a reservation to pay for RCI, you trade your stay for someone else's timeshare stay.
