RSR stand by line

Just a word of caution for those who choose to ride RSR in the stand by line. We did this last week as we were near it when it came back up from being down and the wait was *only* 45 minutes. It was a hot day and they had vendors selling stuff while we were stuck in line. I saw popcorn, ice cream and cold Vitamin Water drinks. If you have children (or even as a hot adult) be prepared to suffer or shell out the money. We had water but it wasn't cold nor did it sound as good as $6.25 ice cream.

Perhaps this is normal as I've only been in the off season, but I'd never seen vendors in lines before.

I haven't seen them do this before on other rides, but I did notice them doing it when I went a few weeks ago. I think it's a good idea!

I remember reading when Carsland first opened that Disney planned to have vendors for the RSR line since they felt it would be pretty long and they were concerned about people waiting a long time in the heat. I think you are the first person to mention they actually saw vendors.

For long lines in the heat I think it's a smart idea for disney to keep people hydrated, however it would be nice if the water wasn't so expensive. Not sure why you used the word caution - people don't have to purchase anything from them. All food and drinks in the parks are way too expensive anyhow, it's kind of a given.

It was just totally unexpected for me to see vendors and you're stuck there and if you have kids they will beg you for food over and over and over and . . .

We bought ice cream dibs but they were gone in about 5 minutes. Some people like the vendors I guess but I don't. If Disney was concerned about people staying hydrated why didn't they put drinking fountains in the que? They have them on some other rides.

I have a feeling they didn't put fountains for that exact reason, so people will buy their drinks instead. They definitely needed some drinking fountains in that queue. I've never gone in the regular queue, but I am usually parched even in the single rider line.

You don't have to buy from the vendor, even if you think your kids will beg over and over and over again. My kids know that doesn't work with me so they don't even try it. lol We purchased an Italian Ice (lemon) and DD and shared it, OMG it was so good. We always have our own water bottles so we didn't buy drinks and the popcorn is not flavored so we skipped that as well, but that Italian Ice sure hit the spot. When we went back with DBF and my other DD we bought them again in line, we bought 2 and shared them between the 4 of us.
Not every ride has a drinking fountain and it really doesn't matter if you're buying the water in line or from a cart, it will cost the same.

If only they had beer like in the line for Forbidden Journey at Universal Orlando.


Most of the ice cream at Disney has ingredients DH and DS can't have (and I choose to not have most of the time), so those aren't a temptation, and to keep the Vitamin Water purchases to a minimum, we have an Igloo Max Cold backpack cooler that we carry. Keeps our water nice and cold. I highly recommend it. A bit over $20 at Target.

They had vendors when Nemo opened, too. I don't mind the vendors, when the lines are long, if you get hungry or thirsty, it's nice to have the option to get something without having to leave the line.

We have an insulated lunch bag that has ice packs built into it, and we use that for Disney. Throw it in the freezer the night before, and it keeps food and drinks cold all day. They're about $20 at Bed Bath and Beyond, and they save us a ton, because we can pack drinks and sandwiches.

Also, if your water is getting warm or you run out, the first aid station at DCA has cold, filtered water and they will let you refill your water bottles.

Good to know. We refill our water bottles in the park all the time from the drinking fountains. We will have to head to the first aid station next time!
