RSR guest policies...?

So, i just found out I have a bun in the oven so excited!!! anyways Our DL trip in coming up in december and I was soooo excited for RSR!!! I was looking on the DL website to see the guest policies for RSR but they didn't have any warnings on the ride page like they do the others. I was wondering if there was a warning outside the ride in DCA stating that pregnant women should not ride. Anyone know? thanks!

But, you should totally be fine on RSR. I was about 4 months pregnant with Harper when I went to DL and the doctor told me all rides except TOT would be ok. RSR doesn't have any hard drops so, baby should be fine!

Congrats to you RSR is super fun, no really bumpy at all. I would think a car ride would be a lot worse onn a bumpy road, enjoy RSR!

Yes, My doc was a Disney enthusiast and knew the parks well, so he was able to tell me a play by play of rides and dangers. Basically, he said baby is pretty darn safe in there, and the reason for the warnings and dangers are for what can potentially happen, given that not all pregnancies are the same, nor are all women. After your bump gets pretty large, you're at greater risk for trauma, than when you're relatively small or not even showing. The main risk for pregnant women when riding TOT, Screamin, Splash, Indy, Star Tours, Space, and BTMRR are the jarring motions or slamming drops. The further along you are, the more likely the placenta can become detached - which is fatal to baby. My doc said that since I was about 4-5 months along that even Indy would be safe (I didn't go on it though, I think he forgot just how crazy that ride is) and that I should just avoid ToT. I still went on Splash, Space, and BTMRR. Star Tours was closed then; and I opted to not go on Screamin myself.

I just have to say, for the record, that any ride that has a height minimum is not advised for expectant mothers and has warnings indicating that.

RSR has a minimum requirement of 40", which is the same as Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Star Tours to name a few. All of those rides say that expectant mothers shouldn't ride. It looks like Disneyland just didn't update their website. Though you've gotten advice to the contrary, the official stance would be that it's not for pregnant women.

I was in this same situation in June- just 5 weeks along when we went on our trip. I went on RSR and a few other rides after getting the ok from my doctor. The past year and a half I had been doing intense crossfit so the movements didn't seem much different. At 10 weeks we found out that I was having a miscarriage - the result of either too much jostling during the beginning of my pregnancy or chromosomal abnormalities. We will never know. Maybe it was from the rides, maybe the workouts, or maybe just bad genes, but I know I will never risk another pregnancy like that. The second trimester makes the babies chances of survivial much better and I would possibly ride RSR at that point if I get into that situation again, but I do not recommend you even risk the babies life. That's just my opinion.

Thanks for your opinions and advice. I have been waiting for disney to update their site. I did notice the trend for rides with height requirements usually meant not for expectant mothers but those rides seem to have been the jerky ones, I think soarin was the only one that didn't say anything. Definitely going to ask my doctor as well. But thanks again for your input.

It's like driving through town to get to the freeway and then getting up to speed quickly (I hear that's what Dallas driving is like, with short on and off ramps, so it's not like that isn't experienced by pg women) and then driving at highway speed for a minute or so.

That's what I was thinking, that maybe it is possible for an expectant mother to ride from the looks of it. I do plan on staying away from the ones that have warnings signs, I don't want to risk anything. Even if my doctor does give me the ok, I would feel a lot better not taking the risk. And besides someone does have to stay back with DD1 for those rides anyway, so not having to figure who will stay back won't be an issue this year. I'll be there again next year for those rides. But being that CL just opened and reading about how awesome RSR i was excited to ride! I was just wondering if anyone there recently had noticed a sign outside the ride saying expectant mothers should not ride since the site does not state it yet. I could always email and ask but thought I could get an answer from someone at the parks

Hmm... short on- and off-ramps sounds like almost ALL of our ramps here on the H1 freeway in Honolulu (although I've been on a few very short on-ramps in the Tacoma area.)

Thanks for letting me know. If that's the case Hawaii roads should post signs stating pregnant women should not drive with the road conditions we have here and with the stiff suspension on my truck!!! Just kidding. But really that ride seems like a much smoother one than everyday driving on Hawaii roads. Thanks again for posting

I am also pregnant and will be about 6 1/2 months by my next trip to DL in January, so I've been checking out these boards for a few months now. I was surprised when someone said that all 3 of the new rides in Cars Land were off limits to pregnant women. Not saying that is for sure, but also something to consider and look in to.

I'm sad to miss the new rides (we last went right before they opened), but I know we'll be back soon enough. It's taken me far too long to get pregnant that I will remain paranoid and avoid pretty much every big ride while there. We'll be going with my niece who will be about 14 months, so I think the 2 of us will have lots and lots of people-watching time. And snack time.
