I'm visiting Orlando this July for a week and really would like to stay at RPR for 3-4 days. No discounts available so is it worth 270 a night? I'll be solo. Last year I stayed at the Hampton Inn and rented a car and was happy with that.

Thoughts???

It depends on what is important to you. Do you want unlimited express and early entry? Do you want to ride things over and over? Do you want to be able to walk easily back and forth from your hotel?

Check out the prices at comparable Disney hotels.

I say it would depend on how many of you there are also. If by yourself again, then an express pass wouldn't b as much, if you find yourself there on a crowded day and wanted FOTL.

In my families case, the express passes were $90 ea, so the room cost was definitely worth it. I have friends that went the same time, and decided to stay off site. Once the family of four bought express passes for 5 days, it more than would have paid for the onsite room

Yes I want all of that. So I guess it is worth it. ;)

Better start saving my pennies up

How many days are you planning on staying?

Universal almost ALWAYS has a special where the longer you stay, the more money you save.

For example, I priced July 25-29 (4 nights) and the price of the room drops from $270 a night to $229 a night. Saves you about $40 a night. The longer you stay, the more you save. So, if you wanted to stay 7 nights, the price of the room is about $190.

Even if you wanted to stay for just two or three nights, it is totally worth it! The express pass alone makes it well worth the price. We have stopped going to Disney all together becuase of this feature. Why spend roughly the same price at Disney for a hotel and have to wait in lines ALL day? We can ride some of our favorites like MIB four or five times in a row in less than an hour when people without express are waiting an hour to ride once.

I think the poster is going to LeakyCon and all the deals as far as i know have gone.
The Universal site has now got a week long fast pass, its a VIP gives you unlimited fastpass to rides for 7 consequtive days, its quite expensive at $339 + tax, but could be an option for you as you will only be buying 1.Reading this i think this includes admission to both parks as well, which makes it not a bad deal, there is also a 4 day and 3 day one

I also stay solo at RPR, but what you need to know is that there is no such thing as single occupancy. You will be paying the price for two people, even if it's just you in the room (it's called a single-room "supplement"), so it's best that you try to find a fellow, trustworthy, same-sex LeakyCon solo-er to maybe share the room with you to make it financially sensible?

But, if I were you, I'd just take the plunge and pay it all anyway. ;)

As described, the benefits are humongous.

no matter what the cost, it would be worth it to me.

i go solo and prefer being on site for many reasons.

the most i ever paid for a room was at HRH $252 which includes tax, per night.

that was with the ap rate too but in a busy time period.

i stay a week and i know the price adds up if you don't have a discount available for your dates.

i hope you can make the decision of using the onsite hotel.
you'll appreciate it once you try it.

I bought that, actually, and stayed off-site. For one person, it's actually cheaper to do it that way, if you can get a hotel for around $100/night.

Good tip RP...but I already have an annual pass so that doesn't help me out. Oh Leakycon...is going to make me broke.:wizard:

Looking for roomies but no luck so far...good suggestion. I might take the plunge anyway. I'm worth it darn it. ;) I listed some CDs and books on ebay/half to see if I can start making some money to pay for this trip.

Thanks for the review. Good to know other solos like the on site places.

Also check out secondspin dot com and abundatrade dot com! One reimburses for shipping and the other doesn't (the one that doesn't tends to pay a bit more though), but both play fair (be sure to inspect your CDs for "CD rot", which you can google so you don't waste energy in sending a bad CD to them) and pay quickly.
