Rpr 7/1 - 7/5

That's a good question. The thing is, they seem to work in pairs. When you arrive, someone greets you and unloads your luggage and things out of your car. When you get inside the hotel, after check-in a bell hop takes your luggage to your room. Sooo - I think I tipped the person who greets you (I don't know their title), $5, then the bell hop got about $8. You know, with five people's luggage and and ice chest and everything, I probably should have given more, and the same thing applies when you check out - someone loads your luggage from your room, and them someone different loads it into your vehicle. That was another $10 to $12 when you add both tips. I don't know. I'm not sophisitcated enough to know how much to tip these people. I left housekeeping $2 a day. Anybody else out there have any suggestions I can use for future trips would be appreciated.

I feel like a dunce....... but is there a fee for tundown service??? We've never stayed onsite at Univ. and at the all-stars at disney, well, they don't turn down the bed for you!!! :)

My sons are 17, 15 and 3, I know my 17 year old won't care for any "teen thing" he thinks he's grown, but he'd take it for the baby....... and when I made resv. they asked for my loews # and what I wanted.... said it would be given to us at arrival. We don't stay at upscale hotels either........ with 3 kids, usually we opt for a less expensive place...... i.e. all stars at disney.... etc. so, I just want to cover all of it, so we don't look like the beverly hillbillies........... :D

I see 'someone greets you and takes your luggage out .. etc' ... can I just bring in my own luggage?... we are not used to the deluxe treatment... heading for RPR the middle of September

wendypooh

There is no fee for turndown service. You just have to request it when you check in.

Just a note about the rooms. Tower 1 had IOA (hulk) facing rooms are all Odd numbered tooms in tower 1. the floor is the 2nd digit and the ones with the cllosest view of IOA hulk etc run from about room 23 to room 33 so 1623 , 1723, 1523 through 33 would definately be IOA facing rooms. 2 tricks to getting an view upgrade for free: if you are driving in, get there early and ask for advance check in. this means you realize your room is not ready yet. Otherwise u will get a garden room. if you mention your kids want to be HIGH up and get a view of IOA, they will try to get you the best possible view. we got there at 8 am and they gave us a card with # to call to check on room status. tower 1 doesnt allow pets. Loews checkin desk always trys to upgrade loews member views when asked.

I dont think there is any really bad rooms in the hotel so dont let the view become too big a deal. You spend most of your time at the parks themselves. At RP, you are only about 100 yards from IOA but due to waterways its a 5 minute easy walk, or a 5 minute boat ride. also there are buses that leave from near the boat dock, but they stop at the other hotels also and drop you off near universal at citywalk. boats do not run if there is lightning, so we learned to carry small ponchos in case.

I just got back from RPR and stayed in Tower 1 room 1327. There was a dog staying in that tower. I past them in the hallway going to their room and also heard the dog barking.

From my window I could see people walking their dogs right on the grass there. I was shocked when the people didn't clean up the messes after their dogs. I thought that would be a rule, but maybe i am wrong.

Thanks Tink,
What a good report! It's looks like you've had an exact duplicate of our vacation. As you can see by the ticker, we'll be leaving in a few days. We're driving in as well. We got the mastercard vacation package rate with the fourth night free, and our plan is to go to Wet N Wild also. I really appreciate your report. We plan to do Wet N Wild on the evening that we arrive. Were you able to see a lot of it in 1/2 a day?

Wendypooh--I'm from Louisiana also. I live in Slaughter, which is right outside of Zachary. Great to talk to fellow Louisianian's on the boards. I just hope that Florida is a lot drier.

Noseybuddy - I'm surprised to hear about the dog. I didn't see or hear any in the hotel. Maybe its certain floors in Tower 1, or they snuck (is snuck a word?) it in. I did see maybe two dogs at the resort the entire time (5 days), and that was outside on the walkway, and didn't see any "left overs" from them either.
I guess we lucked out. Not that I have anything against pets. We have several.

Jalex - I would go to Wet n Wild in the morning. It seems to get crowded the closer to mid day. I feel you can do everything you want to do in 1/2 day that way. We stuck to what we knew we would like. The Surge was fun. Did that one 3 times. I would
advise that you bring your own towels, or ones from the hotel. I was surprised at how much it costs to rent towels, tubes and a locker. I rented 3 towels, 3 tubes and 1 locker and it cost $37 - But if you return everything when you leave, you get about half of that back. I received $14 and change. So-it's worth it to return the stuff even if you have to stand in line. I'm not water park savvy, so I've learned the hard way. You can bring in coolers also. They do have a lot of restrooms and COLD water fountains.

Have fun! :D

Bevv - you can bring in your own luggage, but you will have to go park first then carry it in - and it's not all that close. They will not let you unload under the shelter for liability insurance purposes (that's what I was told). Depending on how many in your party should decide this for you. With 5 of us, and the amount of luggage, etc., it was just worth it to have them unload it and bring it up. If it's just two of you, then, if it were me, I would go park and carry it up myself. :D

Noseybuddy, You were right about the dog, I just called, since reading the post on here....... My son is severly allergic to pet dander!!! So, I called to get some info and request a "pet free" room on the side that MURF had mentioned. What I was told is that animals are ONLY allowed on the first 3 floors of the towers... hence 1327, you saw a dog... 1427 NO dogs.... etc. I requested 1427 or 1527 in tower 1 and she said while they couldn't guarantee tower 1........ they would try and it would be on the 4th or 5th floor no matter what. I'm just hoping for tower 1 since it seems to have the best views. I guess the view doesn't really matter so much, just so long as my poor son isn't sneezing, wheezing, eye's and nose running......... and coughing us out of the room!! :)

Tink ~ that is so funny that your kids would not wear the 3D Glasses LOL

Do they refuse in MGM's Muppets 3D too?

:)

>>^..^<<

Yep! Muppets as well. Also Honey I Shrunk the Audience. They assume the fetal position on that one, with the mice running loose through the audience.

hey Tink! I'm with your kids. The 3-d glasses make me sick to my stomach, although none of the roller coasters do!! LOL

And thanks a great deal for your report, especially the rooms thing. Although it says we're going home in October in my signature, we're actually going to the RPR an Universal. We changed the Mouse trip to January.
