Have booked 4 nights at RPR after our Disney Cruise in August. I really like the look of the resort and pool from pictures I have seen. BUT just checked out some photos of the rooms (booked standard queen beds by the way) and I'm not really liking what I see - dark colours, dark wood. Seem to make the rooms look small.

We stayed at HRH two years ago and loved the room we had there - light and spacious. For $30 more a night, I could switch.

Can anyone convince me that the rooms at RPR are better than they look in photos? Any input appreciated!

Some rooms are better than others. Last year we stayed in Tower 3 and the room seemed dated. Marks on walls, light fixtures that didn't work. This year we were in tower 2, (a garden view room). This room was much nicer. While the room colors are all the same, yellowish tone painted on walls, with one wall a deep burgandy, the paint was fresh, carpet was clean and room was very pleasing. We didn't feel closed in by the colors. The room was very nice, and the hotel itself is beautiful. You will enjoy it.

I felt the same way when I first booked our room at RP back when they had their grand opening ( was it 2002?). I did not like the look of the rooms at all from the pictures I had seen. I took a chance because the resort itself looked gorgeous and I was glad I did. This August will be our third summer staying here. To be honest, the decor is not my favorite, it IS all dark wood but iimo the rooms look nicer in person. I have never stayed at the HR or PB but I have read here that the rooms ARE smaller at the RP. The size of the rooms are fine for us because we don't spend a lot of time here but I have heard lots complain that they are too small. I guess it would depend on what is most important to you, we have visitied the HR and PB and like the tropical theming of the RP the best.

i loved the room. it was only 3 of us so i can see some people's point about having more than that. our room did angle a bit so we lost a little room but we loved it. the colors, the condition of the room and the view were great. we were in tower 1 by the way.

I believe you will love the lush tropical theme and the rooms are cozy feeling instead of dark. (Not as dark as the AKL at DW.)

We've stayed RPR and HRH and hands down prefer RPR over HRH. We had one of the most relaxing trips at RPR. We felt HRH was too spread out and not welcoming. The decor at RPR reminded us of the Poly.
Good luck.

The rooms seem small because they *are* small ...

Don't get me wrong, they're very nice ... but as I always put it, they're quite cozy ...

Thenk you all for your advice. There will only be 3 of us and we intend to be out and about a lot so space isn't really an issue - it was more the "ambience" I was concerned about. But you've all convinced me to go with an open mind! I really do love the look of the resort overall.

Actually, it's funny FeeFee mentioned a comparison with AKL - I love it there (it's got the "ambience" I was talking about!) and we're staying there for 2 nights before our cruise so I guess we'll be just fine at RPR!

Thanks again
