For whatever reason, I can't find this first post, so going to repost. If it's a double, hopefully the monitor won't mind deleting this one.

We drove up to the Royal Pacific Hotel on the 11th of December at 12:00pm. The Hotel is beautiful, very tropical, and with the Christmas decorations, it added another homey feel. While checking in, dh added we were Loews members, but didn't get the card in, she said the number was still in the computer, and it was fine (we called before when making our reservations, with the number). Now here is where you think she would ask or check what welcome amenity we wanted. Now we did tell them what we wanted when we made reservations, so we didn't know anything about a "form." Telling you all, so you make sure you get your "form" upon check-in. Because we called down, about it, and she said we should have asked about the card at check-in, but we didn't know anything about that, so who knows, how they are suspecting people to know. She said it doesn't show up, till after 6pm, because they have to wait to know which room you are in. The first room they put us in, I think was 3515. It wasn't "bad" by any means, it was a garden view, but you could see in the middle, I-4 was plain as day, so it ruined it. I nicely asked about, being Loews members, I remembered about, if there were room, we would get an upgrade. So the bellmen, called the front desk and after waiting a few minutes, gladly said there were room. I felt bad, because I didn't want the front desk to think we were complaining, it wasn't a terrible room, but heck, if I could get a better view with no price difference, bring it on. He said the hotel was 40% full, that week, by the weekend, it would jump to 75% full. We then got moved to room 3536, the other side of the hallway, to a great view, of Islands of Adventure. Right in the middle, we could see Hulk, and Dr. Dooms, and our hotel pool below us. Weeee! We were right on top of Tchop Chop, and got some yummy smells once in a while. Our wing, was also the closest to the boat dock, that was important to us. We went onto I-drive to the local Ponderosa, which we weren't not impressed with. After coming back and unpacking, we were exhausted from the drive, that we all went to bed around 7pm!! lol But that allowed us to be fully charged for our start at the parks, the next morning.

It nevers hurts to ask and so few have the courage well done a better view makes it nicer:jester:

Great start! Sounds like it went well.

Now to read more!:D

Thanks for sharing Kerlynne. We also "complained" about our pool view being obstructed by a palm tree on our August visit and while the bellman was unable to get us into a new room that day, we did get a $20/day discount off the expected rate for our 5 day stay.

alabamabluezebra--what was your view and what type of room did you have? We have a standard gardenview booked for July and would like to know a few rooms to request in that category.

The view from our room was very nice. We were upgraded to a waterview room with our Loews card. We had a full view of the pool, a great view of the park, and a fair view of the waterway to Citywalk. We could see people riding Dr. Doom and Hulk from our room. Some of us watched the IOA fireworks on December 30th from our room. I laid in my bed with a clear view of the park and the fireworks show. The only con was the distance to the elevators.
