I have been reading these reports for a few years now and have never posted a trip report, but after reading many negetive posts about the RP I thought I'd give my own opinion. Check in was quick and easy.I knew about miserable Brian at the front desk so I kept hoping we wouldn't get him. We did. He didn't give us a hard time about anything, but was not pleasant at all.He barely looked at us and never cracked a smile. He said since we had valet parked before check in then we would be charged $12/day. We said that would be our only time using it and he told us to come back the following day when we self-parked to have it changed on our bill. That really was our only problem for the 9 days we were there. We received cookies and milk on the first night without reminding them. Everyday there was a paper outside our door and housekeeping did a wonderful job. One day we lost a room key and it took about one minute to have it replaced. I also lost my drivers license and went to the front desk to see if it was found and Jill immediately got on the phone and made calls to hotel security and park security. They also called me at home after the trip to say no one had turned it in yet.Every employee(except maybe Brian) was so nice to us.Even the lady in the gift shop helped my husband to decide on which diaper rash ointment works best.By the pool there was always girls walking around seeing if there was anything we needed. The 2 hula girls came over and spoke to the kids. When we self parked my husband would get the car(since it was always pouring)and drive up to the front door.Someone always came over and helped us strap the kids in their car seats and load the strollers and bags in the car. On our last day they left some goodies set up like a beach in our room. The beach sand was cookie crumbs, there were chocolate truffles as chairs with an umbrella stuck in one and they put a flower lei around the whole thing. It was really cute.(And yummy!)We paid $99 for a pool view.Room 1210 overlooked the kiddie pool.I would definitely go there again! I have nothing bad to say about the RP,especially for the price we paid.

I am really glad that your family had a great time, its just too bad that this hotel can't be consistent with their treatment of their guests. Andy why should Brian, whoever he is, still be helping guests at all if he can't even crack a smile. That is ridiculous!

Glad it was a GOOD & long stay there for ya'll. The place certainly has the potential for pampering and relaxing you. It's just like Bchamp says, it's that consistency thing.
I did learn this year that November is, and may always be, a big convention time at RPR. Probably not much personable service to the single family then! (ie: pool closings for private functions, etc.)
Jim

Glad you had fun! Thanks for sharing.

So glad you had a nice stay Karen!
In my fours stays at RP I have experienced mostly great service@ I have yet to encounter the terrible Brian and hopefully never will!

I wonder why sometimes, people would accept rude treatment from anyone, especially someone who is being paid to give guests quality customer service.
I will be at the RP in June, I would stand on line and let people go ahead of me, just so I can get this terrible Brian person. I would guarantee, if he was rude to me or any member of my family, I would let it be known, it was not acceptable.
I treat people with respect and I expect the same treatment in return, if this Brian person has an attitude problem, I would be up in his face in a minute, he would regret meeting me, not the other way around.
Maybe if more people stood up to these 'bullies' there would be less of them. I would make one hellava scene right there in the Lobby, that the RP or Brian would never forget

You know at first I felt the same way. Then when I got there, I just decided that I was here to relax & I really didn't want deal with any kind of friction. I deal with rude people every day in my job. If I had gotten him i would have kiiled him with kindness, and took it from there. I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with him.
If you do encounter the wrath of him, tell him he has a great following here on the DIS boards! ;)

If I encounter the "wrath" of him?? That would never happen in my lifetime. He would need to concern himself with encountering the wrath of ME, if he were so inclined
If you deal with rude people at work on a daily basis, why would it be acceptable to you, to subject yourself to the rudeness of someone who obviously (for whatever reason) is not happy?
Sorry, I respectfully disagree, as I said in my previous post, people will treat me with the same respect I give them, or, they have another choice....deal with the consequences.

I've missed the "terrible Brian" stories. What's the deal?

jim, your post about the conventions and pool closed off for private functions concerns me as we are going to RPR in November. What's your information source and can anyone tell me if the weather in early November is usually warm enough for the pool/IOA water rides? Thanks
