Royal Table - Reservations for 4 Available Not 2

We've never been to the Royal Table and would love to go for dinner on Wednesday, September 5. They have reservations available for groups of 4 but nothing for 2! This drives me nuts! I was told that I could pay for 3 and then we could go. So . . . is the Royal Table worth me even thinking about this. I do have reservations at Liberty Tavern for that evening because we are tired of Crystal Palace. We are doing the Keys to the Kingdom Tour that morning and know we will need a nice break for dinner before the evening parades and fireworks. I do wish that Disney provided a "dating" service so we could find another couple to join us for dinner. Any thoughts?

My plan now is to keep checking with the RT and try even on the day -- maybe they will have lots of empty tables of 4 and let us eat there.

CRT, CHH, and LTT all on the same day? My first thought was, "Wow, that's a lot of food for one day!"

If you really, really want to experience CRT, I guess you have to decide if it's worth the extra expense. (I think the price is steep enough as it is!) Will you be going back again? If so, perhaps it's something that can wait for a future trip.

Keys to the Kingdom includes lunch at the Columbia Harbour House. Liberty Tree Tavern (for dinner) is an all-you-care-to-eat family style dinner. With two meals already planned for the day - one of them an AYCE - I'd be hesitent to add a third. My advise is to grab a small snack at the Main Street Bakery to hold you over in the morning, and save CRT for another time.

Thanks for your advice. We were just going to have lunch on the tour -- if we could get the Royal Table I would cancel Liberty Tree. I'll just wait and see.

I think CRT is too expensive as it is. There's no way I'd pay for an additional person.

It really depends on whether CRT would be an "expirience" for you. Have you always dreamed of "eating in the castle?" If so then I would pay the extra. I think expiriences are worth more than meals.

Since, you have to get a party of four. What about booking a table for four and then posting out here for a couple to share the table with you. Someone else may be in the same situation you are in and would like to split the table.

That's not a bad idea, jiminyfan. Maybe the Moderators would consider a "sticky" thread for sharing tables, sorta like the Illuminations Cruise thread on the Theme Parks Advice board?

that just makes little sense to me.. i mean, what if you legitimately booked for 3 but then someone had to cancel? do you still have to pay for that 3rd?

There is NO WAY I would pay for 3 just to eat at the Royal Table...give me a break...first they raise the prices and now they want a party of two to pay for another non person just to have a meal there????!!!!

That is insane, I would take my chances and call every day to see if something opened up

Now that I think about it... isn't there just a $10 penalty for a no-show? In that case you'd only need to pay the $10.

not at CRT. it's payment in full at time of booking. penalty for no show is 100%.

PSB at akershus has a $10 per person no show. as does BBB. california grill is $20 per person i believe.

I did not know this....

I always book an extra seat for DD5....for dinner...
She is usually in kids club....i book it in case she wants to
leave......yeah right...

Of course these are not for character meals....

what i probably meant to add is that if you do have 4 and only 3 show, the restaurant will probably be understanding and credit you the missing person, but i don't know this for sure. but if nobody shows, don't expect it to cost you only $40.

that's how it used to be prior to the changes, but even then, they took the $10 per person at the time of booking.
